I see you play pretty fast and loose with the ol' punctuation and grammar, it should be:

"He's one of the most powerful drug lords ever"
"When there is crime there are cops"

Surprisingly that wasn't my main problem with the text, it was more that it's clumsily written and the repetition makes it sound very childish. Other than that I have to say that afro-wigs, novelty glasses and kids squeaking "motherf*cker" at each other really doesn't float my comedy boat. Other than that I can't really comment as the aforementioned glasses, wigs and swearing seemed to be all there was in terms of content. I'm sure you and your mates had a giggle making it but at the moment I'm pretty underwhelmed.

Wasn't it supposed to be:

"Where there is crime there are cops"

Either works I think. Your one sounds better but I didn't really want to rip this thing completely to shreds!

You guys just don't get it- and the spelling/grammar is terrible.

Well, it was entertaining for a while. Not really any acting to speak of, some of the effects weren't bad, the editing could have been worse, the lighting couldn't.

If you really want to flog a dead horse, where the text states, "he's one of the most powerful drug lord's ever" - - You've used an apostrophe "s" incorrectly - You could fix that if you'd like.

That being said, quite frankly, I liked it. I thought the wigs were funny in a good way, and that little guy is hilarious; sort of like Kid Rock's little porta-pal (or whomever he was) or "mini-me" - or something...

Yeah, rythym and pacing-wise, it could have been better. The thing is, it looked like young people (well, younger than me) having fun. It's fun to make movies with your friends. Sometimes just making the movie is more satisfying than the final product.

That being said, as far as any for-profit dreams (or schemes) that you may have... Just keep making movies. Finish this one if you already haven't..! It seems like you have more time to sharpen your skills, right..??

Cheers,
Iggy.

What the hell is starting to go wrong with FXhome these days?

Someone courageously puts their work up here, manages to generously accept replies despite condescending remarks; only to be torn to shreds by rude, abrasive, and otherwise uncalled for blunt remarks- most particularly by cinemafreak and Anne, both of whom have yet to submit anything of filmmaking merit to FXhome or otherwise.

I personally think many that replied to this thread need a serious course in manners and attitude adjustment. Berating an aspiring filmmaker with rude criticisms and jabs at the actors does no good to either party, so why say anything at all?

When I first got here, this isn't the kind of attitude I received. Not even close. Wisen up and be a bit nicer, you guys, I think it would benefit everyone.

Jesus.

Analysis of trailer:

Terrible sound.

Everything else was a mixed bad ranging from bad to worse. I suppose it's your first film, So that's fine.

At the very least, I laughed at the opening shot, as it actually seemed like a crappy 70's low budget film.

I was just telling him that if he had read the post before he asked "would you pay for it?" then he would see that there telling him what he could fix. No ones going to pay for a film that needs to be fixed in places or just is an amature film.

everything I would say has already been touched on though.

Jesus.
Point taken- but seriously, his trailer includes the word "motherfu@ker" - which doesn't bother me, but if he is going to slap an "approved for general audiences" disclaimer on it, he should know what that MEANS- it means that it can't be too violent or use language that may be unsuitable for kids- and from what I see around here there are lots of kids- don't get me wrong, I grew up in the inner city schools and kids at age 5 are spewing much worse- but at least understand what you are putting out there- don't just slap that screen on it because "that's what you do when you make a trailer" -

that was my criticism of it, I could go into lots of detail about the trailer itself, but it would be redundant at this point.

Just because I haven't submitted movies to fxhome yet doesn't mean I've been unproductive. I have done many video projects, including jobs (means i've gotten paid) and community service projects, in addition to school movies and doing stuff on my own.

As for people ridiculing a budding filmmaker, I must agree with you. And if my comments offended anyone, I'm sorry. What irritates me is the lack of rationality in some peoples posts. It just seems to me that people should know that nobody will buy their first movie they made when they were 13, hence my comment "not a chance in hell."

Oh, that makes perfect sense then. Nevermind about Ben's comment, your explanation is ironclad.

At any rate, I'd be interested in seeing the finished version of your film. Rock on.
