Moving the muzzle flash origin [ANSWER]

so far i can put just a basic muzzle flash where i want, but what if i want to switch it up a little bit? for instance i cant get the assault rifle flash where i want it to go, it always goes to the center of the screen. so how would i go about putting it where i want

Clicking "Flash Attributes" under the title of the effect should display the rotation and placement tools for the flash. To move it, click the small box in the center. The colored axes control the direction of the flash. There are a lot of options for altering the look of the effect as well.
