Back in the early 90s, Star Trek ruled the airwaves. It was in the glory days, before Nemesis and Enterprise succeeded in self-destructing the once noble franchise. The year was 1993, with fond memories still lingering of the original crew's final voyage in The Undiscovered Country and The Next Generation approaching its climax, when something rather different appeared – Deep Space Nine.

Destined to be the slightly strange, unconventional entry in the Star Trek pantheon, DS9 may not sit easy with some traditional Trekkies but it nonetheless succeeds in delivering a strong, series-long plotline, political intrigue, memorable characters and a unique setting (for Trek, at least) on top of all the usual bumpy foreheads, Prime Directives and styrofoam cave planets.

How to win!

The best news of all is that all seven seasons of DS9 are returning to DVD in all-new slimline editions, released 30 April. To help you kick-start your collection, we've got a couple of first season sets to giveaway! Whether you're already a fan or someone looking for intelligent sci-fi, all you have to do is answer the following question:

Upon being stranded inside a barren planet in the second Star Trek movie, what immortal word does Captain Kirk scream at his enemy?

Email your answer to COMPETITION NOW CLOSED. Make it so!

Rules and regs: It wouldn't be a proper competition without some rules! So here we go: 1. These DVDs are region 2, so make sure your DVD player can handle it. 2. Don't forget to include your home mail address, as DVDs can't be sent by email. 3. Only one entry per person. 4. All entries must be received by 4 May 2007.
