Although Effects Lab has several powerful effects generating engines there are certain things (overlaid animation type effects such as HUD for example) which still require a basic 2D graphic file or animation to be composited with your video.

There are regular posts which request advice on using the old Alam DV plug ins and so there is clearly still a need for this type of footage and I am sure many FX Homers are still creating these type of graphics files.

I was wondering whether it would be possible to have a new download section on the site where users could upload effects they have created for wider use by the community? This could either be by opening up the Alam DV library to new submissions or by creating a new one? It could be restricted to registered owners of the FX Home programs (as the Alam DV section is now) to limit the impact on the site traffic and the moderators.

I fully appreciate that this would be a purely altrustic gesture by the FX Home crew as these effects files are not directly associated with your programs and their promotion (as the Comp Lab / Effect Lab presets are for example) and a new effects library would need quite a bit of work to maintain when I am sure you are already overstretched.

What do you think though? smile

Good call petet2. I think that this has been whispered for a while and I hope it can be finally realized.

Indeed, hints of first appeared nearly 2 years ago to the day, and while it was of necessity set on the back burner for a while, it is still planned for the future.
It would be comprised of both free stock clips and high-quality clips available for a small fee, if I recall. You will probably hav to wait until it appears in the news here on the site to get any more definite info on it though.
