Clever use of the visualFX, as well as some of the sound effects. Some nice camera shots, too.

MY PLUG-INS, WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!
and was that the back to the future music in the background???
i think that this was a very good short, considering it is the only fantasy style movie, well apart from those wierd spell master ones...
i think it is also very good because it is ur FIRST movie...
overall, i give it 3.5 (rounded upto a 4) and not just because it has my lame plug-ins in

was the arrow yours???? and yes you were right about the music.

yup the cruddy arrow was mine, WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!
i want to remake it now that my 3d skills have become good, that plug-in is so pixelly, and horrid, it needs anti-aliasing...
u can find a few other 3d pictures i made throughout the forum...
i am also wondering if u r gonna make another movie, and if so, r there any spoilers???

Yeah, a nice full of effects flick. I like the "legend of Zelda" inspired bits
I think Ebag is probably slightly biased tho seeing as he is using the same computer as Mysterio....something you want to share with the group?

:D I am a friend of mysterio and he showed it to me while I was at his house. I liked it so I gave it a five. Who knew it would go all the way to first?

someone finally realized it was from Zelda and my friend came over and voted to high and i don't see why i got into first and "THE TEST" (with like 50 5stars) got into second if you would put me down a little i would be very happy

Post 12 of 71
how does the voting thing work like (THE TEST) got lots of 5 stars and i got like two five stars and i am in first explain this to me??????
Posted: Sat, 8th Jun 2002, 8:12pm
Post 13 of 71
it works on averages, so if u have had very few low marks, then u will have a higher average, it is easy to get 1st with one vote of 5 stars i would of thought...

Post 16 of 71
u want me to make one? ok, it will just be the same but better quality, and from better angles, ok?
Posted: Sat, 8th Jun 2002, 8:36pm
Post 17 of 71
Great!!! because i want some angles facing the archer and the arrow flying at the camera!!!

Post 18 of 71
argh! now u tell me, i just finished making it, i have one from the side, one from the side pointing diagonally up, one from the flight looking down the arrow, and one flying kinda up towards the camera...
can they be used for it? or do u want me to remake the entire thing for a front view?

it did but then someone voted mine really low and it went back to nine about how long has (the test) been in first. pretty soon me and my friend are going to make an awesome movie.

calm down TMM, my Vimy Ridge SE aint finished yet, wait for it, than we will see. hehhe. im a power hungry SOB...but hey, at least i'm honest. hehehe
anyway, as for this film, good use of effects, but i didn't feel it calling out to me in any other way. its about a 3-3-5 rating, thus me giving it 3.
but mysterio, remember, 3 is still quite good.
and i'll be waiting for your next film!

what was your most favorite part in the movie???
Posted: Sat, 8th Jun 2002, 10:33pm
Post 39 of 71
most of the time, when you watch something (or at least me) there are moments that stick with you from it. keep in mind i say moments, so it can be really short.
nothing memorable happened here, but don't beat yourself up over it, most of the tests, or even films on here are the same.
but the test left a good impression on me, same with desert of doom and alamdv2 trailer

i thought the bit where he stabbed the sword into the ground, and there was the HUGE explosion was cool, it showed how u can out a few effects together to make a good effect...
i also liked the way u use the arrows, where he kinda uses magic to throw the arrow back, and it stabs straight into that person...
Posted: Sat, 8th Jun 2002, 10:40pm
Post 41 of 71
That arrow part was my favorite to and i was wondering did you make a movie and if so are you in it
Posted: Sat, 8th Jun 2002, 10:42pm
Post 42 of 71
no, i don't make movies, i have NO access to a camera or anything...
i wish i could make one though, and if were to make one, i would certainly be in it...

I wasn't in this one but next time i will be and there will be more actors and a lot more special effects but first i'm going to make a trailer and see if they liked it then i'll send in the real thing

i'm thinking if i have plug-ins in my movie and don't send them in but show them what they can do with them that might help my vote like something new that people haven't seen

The Music was really cool (You can't do much wrong with Silvestris Soundtracks) :)
So were the effects...
But the camera was very far away and the editing should be a little more careful (mostly, the last frame of the 1st shot doesn't match up with the first frame of the 2nd shot - and thats the most important thing in editing)...
But it was very entertaining an fun to watch.

I presume it was you that said this mysterio...
and i would just like to say - CHEEKY!!!
but a cunning diea, and then u can upload the plug-ins if it is a big success, and u will be like cool...

That's a good idea, but if one person likes it and no one else does, that one person might be left out. You might want to send them in after making the movie, no matter what.

I just watched the movie, and it is cool! I gave it five stars. However, I'm wondering. Is the actor who played the hero just a little weird? And also, how did you do effects on the movie if you don't own AlamDV?

Not bad. Some editing bugs to work around but great use of effects and music. Nice job.

he does own alamdv, he just hasn't put his serial on the site, so he hasn't got he little boarder...

Hey, I viewed the movie, but I didn't get any sound.
I had the volume turned on and the quicktime volume on, but I still didn't hear anything. Anyone have any ideas why?

Uh i don't know???? all the other people have sound..... are you running a pc cause my friends pc didn't work for some weird reason maybe it is not up to date????? or cause your speakers don't work like have you tested them for other movies/music

My PC's up to date cause it's a pretty new Dell with Windows 98. And it works on other movies and music.

Your OS is a bit ancient by modern standards, but there is nothing wrong with DELL's computers. You're just stuck buying all your parts from them directly.

Post 59 of 71
Of course, with the speed that new computers are coming out at, it is almost impossible to keep up to date. And buying parts from Dell is okay, just as long as you never have to buy new parts.

or make a sequel, rather than redoing it, just make a sequel, which continues on from wheer the first left off, as in just after u kill that bloke, another one appears or summit, but this one is really hard...

ok great idea!!! thanks tmm

Yeah, and you could give the sequel sort of a storyline, like the guy comes back from the dead, and you have to hunt him down or something.

Post 68 of 71
ah yes, the music, u should try what they did in that stop motion one, horsey hijack was it called, where they used an assortment of msuic throughout, liek a film would, rather than having the same track playign throughout, maybe u could give that a shot...
