Does anyone know if there is a way to "lock out" others from using the name of your studio/production names? For example, if I'm going to have my movies say "xxx-studios" and "xxx-productions" what is stopping others from using the same names? We don't really want 15 people submiting movies under "xxx-studios" do we?

Get your name registered as a trademark. You can register in both the UK and US, but it costs about £200 a time and needs renewing every few years. This becomes registred as you intellectual property.

As for company names you can stop others taking the same name by registering your company in companies house (UK) as a limited company - then no-one else can register the same company name.

If they do you can take them to court and get them to change it.

But it all costs hard earned cash.
