Is there a way not to play from the beginning? [ANSWER]

I just downloaded the demo of Visionlab to play around with it for a bit and see what I can do. I plopped one of my latest films in, which is about twenty minutes long, and tried to add an effect. However, every time I press play, the playhead jumps back to the beginning of the film. I could work around this by editing down to smaller clips, but I'd really rather not go to all that trouble - is there some setting I need to change?

Very simple really.

Select the frame which you want the playback to start and press either this little button...

or press I on the keyboard.

Yes, as SilverDragon7 says, you need to adjust the in/out point of your project, it will only play between those two points then. However you don't really want to be importing such a long clip to add effects, consider cutting it up into smaller sections and working on it that way.
