Lost and Cloverfield mastermind JJ Abrams is currently prepping his Star Trek feature film, which will chronicle the first meeting between Spock and Kirk. Zachary 'Sylar' Quinto from TV show Heroes has already been snapped up to play Young Spock, with Leonard Nimoy returning to play Spock in his elder years. Controversially, however, William Shatner has yet to be asked to join the cast. Can the movie succeed without Bill onboard? We don't think so - what about you guys?

I agree, get Shatner in the film.

Although knowing JJ the ending will be the start as with most of his films.

You put "Spoke and Kirk", just some FYI. Might want to remedy that little typo.

Heh, whoops. Fixed. smile

I'm not even sure you can have new actors playing such iconic roles while also including the original actors. It'd be hard enough if they were starting completely from scratch, without directly referencing the original cast. Including both young and old versions will invite inevitable comparison, and I can't see that going down too well with people that are familiar with the series/movies...

Heh, not yet. smile

And just a thought, what if they are actually deliberating digitally-de-aging Shatner in the same fashion as X3: The Last Stand and on a recent DirectTV ad with Shatner as Kirk?
