I was about to buy an Fxhome T-shirt for the London Film and Comic Con when I can across something odd. One of the logos on the t-shirts was orange! I thought my eyes were deceiving me, but on further inspection it looks nothing like any of the other logos.

Could this be a new product, because Siggraph 2007 got me thinking, especially this quote from Schwar:

Schwar wrote:

The Pixar guys had actually heard of FXhome, which was rather thrilling! We should have more coming from this angle in the future...
Here is the image, the orange logo is on the front t-shirt:

You must admit it is quite odd, but not unheard of. Remember back just before Visionlab was launched it's logo was include in a news post for the big chat and also in a picture of Schwar's desk.

If I am wrong about all of this then I'm about to look quite the fool.

It allows you to monitor the rate of drying of paint based materials, most commonly used on walls. It'll make your movie look awesome!

Absolutely. One of the features of WPDL is the instant "Make my footage look like film" Button which has presets of all the latest blockbusters.

That's brilliant - you have to wonder why the studios waste so much on those overrated Genesis cameras and all those crew and CGI post-guys, don't you wink

Well, I'm thinking that it'll come to around $1,000 or more, then.

First time I'd noticed this topic. I can't quite tell if this is all a really subtle joke, or whether some people actually think WPDL is a real product. Surely not? crazy

BaconSandwichLab, however. Now that's very real!

I still can't tell if everyone knows this is a joke or whether some people are taking it seriously.

I hope it's the former, or it'd just be weird. Particularly as nobody from FXhome ever actually said anything about WPDL, to my knowledge. It was just random jokey comments from random people.

Gotta love the internet. smile

I believe that the "watching paint dry" part is a joke... I mean, having a program that automatically dries your painted wall or whatever is a ridiculous concept.

But I think that the actual program is real, as Sollthar posted that chat session, showing that WPDL will basically put MANY people out of work. Ah, well, I suppose we won't know unless we are a part of the FXhome Team...

Well, I thought it would be worth mentioning that the logo is/looks most likely like the muzzleplug logo found in the new fxhome hq video screen grab that serpent got:

And to me it seems like you would have to be a complete idiot to think that a special effects company would make a paintdrying softwear, so I really thought everyone was just playing along with the joke untill this guy

Alright guys, you'd better hurry with this before they delete my post and change the password, but I've found out what the secret FXHome Beta tester password is in the chat room!

It's quite strange, really, but I believe that's the point, so just log into the FXHome chat room and type:

Content removed - Hybrid-Halo

And you'll be downloading the WatchingPainDryLab Beta(it's just a code name by the way)!

Now, hurry up, you're welcome, and here's hoping I won't get banned.[/b]

Hehe I spotted Bacon Sandwich Lab, and the other one. Although I did already know about it, I couldn't believe how long it took people to spot it. I love the fact that some people actually believe WPDL is a product, you know I'd be tempted to lauch something for £2.99 or something trivial and see how many people actually buy it. smile

Incorrect. There are no slip-ups in the office video. Do you think a company that specializes in software which can blurs areas of the screen would really mistakenly put something into a video on their website?

I think not! Also worthy of note is that it's very possible that everything is a ruse or joke designed to interest and amuse you. Don't get too excited, you may be disappointed.

Well, some of the stuff in the video seems like it might be real like the muzzle plug thing or th new update for VisionLab, but those things are probably the FXhome teams way of "accedently leaking" small bits of news.

Thanks Pooky. biggrin I put in a bunch of still images of my summer and got a cinema-resolution video documentary complete with voiceovers and everything. By the way, they lied about the render time; it took my system 3 days to render the project. I still have a hard time believing that people actually think WatchingPaintDryLab is its real name. lol.
