You should make one for The Worst of Times... Kinda following this one...

Make it kinda like this...

(top of poster)
a Dodo Bird Studios production

(main logo= however you want to do it)

a Petrick & Kinane film
COMING 2008
(bottom of poster)

Do whatever you'd like on the poster itself... Remember it's a WWII Film.

If one of you could make a logo for me, that'd be awesome.

It's called Supremacy Studios. I don't really have any idea what it could look like, but that its for action-based films. Anything would be great.

I'm just going to take a cool font and mess with it a little for the supremacy thing, that cool with you?

EDIT:

Really simple. I had something else planned, but I sort of cheaped out after I decided to put the little scope thingy in there. It took like 2 minutes, so I won't feel bad if you hate it. biggrin

ChristianFilmer, you want that font to be fancy, like a serif font, or blocky and simple, like a sans-serif?

I changed "a Dodo Bird Studios production" to "Dodo Bird Studios Present", mostly because saying "a..." and then "production" and saying "a.......film" right after is redundant and design-wise looks bad.

Anywho, this is what I came up with, riding on the "dirty" look. If you want something more classic/Saving Private Ryan-ish, that's fine. But for now:

BIG POSTER! smile

Hope you like it! I incorporated some elements I've used before into it, specifically the ink splatter that I really like using. smile If you want something besides the European ruins and the helmet, photo, straw, etc. just let me know. smile

Glad you like the logo, FrostyG! I love +1's if you they're handy... wink (I don't need the force, but I do like positive ratings, that's why.)

I finished the JM's MAG!C one. Below is a sample JPEG, and the following link leads to a slightly higher-res, large PNG of it.

EDIT:

If anyone would like to substantiate why, after two years latent, this post was worth marking to skip, please tell me. I understand the contention with me recommending positive numbers be given out; but given that this is a years old post, I figure only the most recent posts in the thread will be read. As such, it is not worth noting to skip this, as most already have and will.

Force points aren't necessary at all, but a plus one on any post of mine (particularly in this thread) you might find helpful would be greatly appreciated. If you've already done so, then thank you!

'FXperience' doesn't matter to me, but I'm trying to clear my positive/negative ratings record a little by gaining back some positives.

These are all really cool, I like them a lot. The only thing I'd suggest is make the text more readable. I know that the style sometimes dictates the look, but if I can't see what it says, I won't know what to check out.

If Atom and/or Ben and/or Anyone else fancies a FAST turnaround of a poster...

Anyone fancy...

Whirlwind Entertainments Present

Dr MacLean

Some of the pitch stuff to give an idea...it's not a battle/guns/explosives kinda thing, but there's suspense...

The story is inspired by the real life English serial killer Dr Harold Shipman who was convicted of killing his women patients. It’s believed he was the most prolific mass murderer in the world because he signed the death certificates of up to 500 patients before he was caught.

Logline: Doctor MacLean is so good his patients would lay down their lives for him except manic depressive Grace Jennings who suspects he killed her Grandmother.

Dr MacLean is a character driven suspense thriller in the style of the genre’s master Alfred Hitchcock. It relies on drama and tension not blood and gore.

It’s set in the gloriously beautiful landscape of Scotland in 1981 just as Prince Charles married Lady Diana and Yorkshire Ripper, Peter Sutcliffe, was tried.

We should ALLUDE TO but not identify Roger Moore in the lead role.

If anyone does draft anything in the next 24-36hrs, I'll get it to a team pitching at Edinburgh this week, I'm sure they'll be very pleased!

Bless you guys smile Have fun!

First off, PMs go through FXHome and don't require you to log onto email. Go to Community and then under that>Messaging to send PMs. Secondly, you have to have an email account to create an FXHome account......so..........smile

And yes, I use photoshop. (And unless you plan on actually making these movies and don't just want posters, which is fine, perhaps hold off on the requests a little. 2 posters and a logo is enough for now, don't ya think? smile)

I've got my own version of "The Innocent", it's actually extremely similar to tyguy's (text-wise, I planned on black and white as well, haha) but with more painted in wisps, less skull and vertical lines, and more bluish craqueleur.

I tried to make it as cool looking as I could without branding it as anything specific other than general action. I had planned on adding in your studios text under and slightly to the right of the regular text (that's why it's more left-justified) but I held off on that to see if you even wanted this design. Do you like it?

Here it is....

Here's a link to a SUPER high-res PNG:
http://www.adamsbrosfilms.com/newmages/innocent.PNG

The file should be up in a minute or two.

Dude, i absolutely love it. it's awsome! hugegrin

If you want to know what my idea for the movie is read this if not dont: A regular average joe, who likes to go dumpster diving comes across a high-tech computer wich was used by the CIA or the Goverment, and takes it home and trys to get it up and running. Then he finds a whole truck load of top secret info about upcoming goverment war tactics such as nuclear warfare, and is then hunted down by the CIA wich is acusing him of actually Stealing the classified info, and as time goes on is also acused of the murder of a highly respected CIA Agent or oppritive, And know he is on the run, and trying to prove that he is innocent!

pretty intense huh ?

I have to go to Florida on wednesday until saterday
so i'll try to keep in touch as much as i can

P.S. can you (in general) make good posters in Jasc Paint Shop Pro ?

I had a thought... While I'm in the process of re doing one half of my website (link) maybe one of you could create some kinda of new image, off the main image of the website...

And from there I'll base the rest of the site around the color scemes and what-not.

Bro, I don't think you can stick with the Warner Bros. dodo bird if you wanna go serious. Not only because it's copyrighted, but because attempting to make it cooler or more serious is difficult. I've tried a few things, all of which have proved to no avail....

I've also centered justified and added a CIA logo into the right side, I'll have to put that version up shortly.

OK, I really need a good poster. I need a black background with a red silhouet of this lighthouse.

Over the light house is a pair of demon eyes that are glowing faintley.
On the bottum of the scean it says 'Patrick's Island'. This would really help 'cause I suck at making this typ of thing myself. Thanks.

Does it have that to be that particular lighthouse, or can it be anything similar?

It needs to be the same in shape because it will be the icon of the movie.

I'm not getting the best of results so far with what I have, I'll keep at it though. If this doesn't work out, I have some ideas that may be styled similar to the "The Innocent" poster, but they'd be at night, darker, and more creepy red toned.

Here's what I'm getting so far....

Not to offend or anything, but I suggest you create a thread for it entitled "ChristianFilmer presents...The Innocent". There you can post the posters we've all made for you, your logo; along with a possible cast list, questions you have, and your plot synopsis.

That'd be a much better suited place. It's also better because it keeps this thread tidy and only full of 'poster' related stuff.

As far as my thoughts on your idea: I like it. It reminds me, in a way, of 'Shooter'; what with a mistaken killer involved in the government and whatnot. It sounds like you've got a great place to start, but I'd honestly have to see how you pull it off before I pass judgment on the story. So far nothing is really wrong with it.

As I said, though, I don't think this is the right place to discuss this.

Go to the Filmmaker's Forum or the General Chat- whichever you feel you'd rather have a thread in- and select "New Topic". It's a button immediately to the left of the orange 'RSS' button.

From there, write a post like you normally would, making sure to put a descriptive title in the 'Summary' box. Something like "ChristianFilmer presents The Innocent" should do the trick.

From there, you can add special elements to the page by bordering them with code. To find the correct code (if you don't know it, of course) you simply moue over the 'Smileys/BBCode' box when writing a post and up pops all the code you need. To post and image, you just put image tags around an image URL, like so:

[img]image URL[/img]

To get the images' URL from this particular thread, you need only right click on said image and select 'Copy Image Location'. From there, you just lay down the img tags and right click paste the URL in.

It must be online, FXhome does not act as a fileserver. To upload, simply go to Imageshack.us, browse to find the file, click upload, and then scroll down to select the 'Direct Link to Image'.

If you want to use a hyperlinked thumbnail image, select the 'Code for Forums' code and paste it into your thread.

Sure I guess... you would have to bee very skilled with that program though.. just as the Adam brothers are skilled with photoshop. I don't know much about Jasc paint shop pro so I don't know for sure. Though I do know you can make posters and such in a program called GIMP which is a similar (but free) to photoshop. Also like photoshop, GIMP takes a while to get the hang of.

It's not even a matter of the program you use, don't try and blame it on that. It's all about design-knowledge and creativity. Play with things and don't be afraid to try a few layouts.

Hey there,

I have finished a the script for a project i will be filming in upcoming months. The concept behind the film is very much a character driven story based on the idle hands of busy minded teens.

Title:Clench
Directed by: Brian Hunt
Tag: Its what the summer brings.

The colors for the film a very red/orange driven, very burnt colors in that sense. And very deep blues and hi saturated greens.

It is an extremely fast paced movie.
It takes place in a south urban city.
The main character has a shaved head.

All the clothing is based loosely on the styles of: Punk meshed with suits and clean cut in the same outfit. Example: Look at James deans "Boulevards of broken dreams, and mesh that with todays punk touches".

In many ways this film can be compared concept wise to that of "Basketball diaries", and "Kids".

I'm looking for a poster that can capture a very rundown urban feel, that also meshes with the fact that it is realistic looking. Keep in mind the main characters are all teens.

*This is not a shoot em up film, nor is it a special effects film.*

Thank you very much.
Brian

Okay, Brian, with what you've personally told me about 'Clench', here's what I've come up with: (I've got a larger version if you like it)

CLENCH! (I originally put Cole himself photoshopped bald into it, but it just looked ridiculously odd smile)

Hey there I noticed your were graciously helping people out with posters and such and was wondering if you would at all mind helping me with my two logos.

This is what I currently am using for as my main logo and then there is suppose to be a full blown one that says:

JUIGADOR PRODUCTIONS

Anyway was hoping you can help I like the logo except I want something more wow like. I'm really wanting the mystic, epic, magical type look but I lack the creativity to produce such.

Can you please lend your talents to help out?

Thanks

The guy can be replaced with Cole, easily. Or he can be silhouetted and closer the the foreground of the canvas. The 'coming soon' text can also be made a little lighter, I made it a bit too bold for some reason. I tried to stick as close to what you drew as possible, but without a source picture of Cole I can't do the buzzed-head, left-justified thing you wanted.

http://istockphoto.com is a great stock photo site. It's easy to become a member and submit stuff and that makes it one of, if not the biggest site on the internet for stock images. It costs very little per picture. I know this isn't the one Ben uses, but it is a good one. I am pretty sure the one Ben uses has a membership fee, which is good if you are going to be using a lot of images. Though I'm not completely positive.

Another source is the stock section of http://DeviantArt.com Not everything on DA is royalty free, but check out the resources category. They have some good free stuff there.

EDIT: Link fixed, thanks ben.

It's DeviantArt.com, Serpent made a typo.

I'm a "StockXpert" member of the StockXchange or sxc.hu, which is the site I use.

They have download limits on the free accounts, and not all the photos are up for download (only like 100,000 of them, I think) but the stuff they offer is great. High-quality, and usually royalty-free for all purposes except corporate usage.

And Serpent, when are you gonna get me some source images, man? Otherwise I don't have much to work off of, unless you just want a heavily-textured teaser poster?

Nah, I'll get you the images when my friends show up for a shoot. Don't worry about a teaser poster. The main actor has been hanging out with his girlfriend all summer and has made no effort to hang out with us, so I'm going to have to take action Friday, I'm busy tomorrow. The other main actor is readily available, but I'd like to do both of them at the same time.

Which suggests to me that your 'main actor' isn't the right guy for the job, his heart isn't fully in it. Seriously, there are more actors out there who would give you their girlfriends for an opportunity to act/get showreel. You don't need a diva attitude before you even get rolling, or he'll disrail your film by being too important to rock up on time, etc.

Actors are _all_ messed up (which is why they want a job where they pretend to be someone else all day), the neurotic ones work harder than the arrogant ones. Manic Depressive ones are great on the up, tough work on the down, etc. This is why crew and production never get involved with actors/actresses - they're as mad as a segway full of badgers, the lot of them. Arrogance is the least attractive trait they can display, and I've known actors get booted for the arrogance to try to change a film unilaterally.

Hey Pdrg
Alright man. I understand that film makers as far as the actual directors and cinematographers; as a whole have a much more creative and unique job.

But to discredit the fact that an actual talented actor is a dime a dozen is a completely large oversight in my opinion. I can understand not working with diva's, there is no room in the hard working world of film making for people who seem to believe that they can float above other's on set.

BUT...treating your good actors like there a dime a dozen is the perfect way to make them rather spend time with their girlfriends, then be on set of your film.

Now its true that as a whole, the actors are the last thing involved in the project usually because there is so much creative work that is put in to it before they even show up. But keep in mind a good actor can take crap words and make them magic on a screen, while a bad actor can turn magic words into crap.

I'm just saying your attitude towards your actors should not be a GOD complex. It is important to let every one know how important there job is on set, that way the continue to show up to work for you.

It's a group effort. R E S P E C T. lol

So Pdrg I'm sorry you have yet to apparently have a good experience with a normal talented actor, but don't combine all the industry or "the mad group of badgers", as you would say; when there are plenty of talented and sane actors out there.

have a good one.

Respect right back - you're completely right of course.

I was being a bit flippant, but there's sometimes a bit of a Withnail complex going off in actors which can grate badly. Same with directors, though. And I hope everyone here can appreciate I'm kidding when I say _all_ actors - it's clearly not true.

I totally agree, acting is hard work, and actors who produce are critical to any production, but I sometimes see people exhausing themselves to use one particular actor when there are always options. Actors are not dime-a-dozen, but taking a fresh look at casting can increase your possibilities and increase your gene pool.

I'll get back to poster-making in just a minute, but here's my view on the whole "should you cut the actors or not" scenario:

Actors are great. You need actors to get a movie done. They are the quintessential thing to actually finishing a film.

BUT...

They're not God's gift to the filmmaking world. Oftentimes the actors talents can be great (check out any of the Atomic stuff with SNI BRI in it) but because that actor is being used their limited availability can hinder a project more than their talents are helping. (I'm not speaking of SNI BRI, of course.)

For instance, for our latest project, my brother has worked really hard to get everyone together. Yet, because we waited on an actor Tyrien (Watts in "Redemption"), we held off on filming anything that involved his character in the script. Fast-forward to three weeks later and Tyrien's on his way to Julliard, citing problems with the script as reason to pass on the project. This, after he'd already signed on.

Now I don't in any sense of the word 'blame' him for making this decision- he's got a lot to do before leaving for Julliard- but our over-dependence on a performance from him is what's been limiting us. Now we have to re-cast and school is four days away.

Ultimately: actors are important, but not entirely irreplaceable. Even if they're really good, you shouldn't have to work completely around them. They're offering their talents for your project, not the other way around.

Remember that they should be listening to you, not you to them. Show respect, but have esteem enough to be an effective director/producer.

The pic for the back ground was actually taken at Mt. Vernon. The crew of Nation Treasure 2 was shooting there at the time, and a man carrying a couple of tripods is cropped out of the pic.

Oh snap, I missed your reply. We are done shooting the film and he was one of the most dedicated actors. Ben and I were talking about shooting the poster photos. It's just that over the summer, he's been busy with work, girlfriend, and his band. I almost don't blame him for dedicating any of his free time to just chilling at his house or with his girlfriend, he always has the busiest schedule, most classes, he's #1 in our class, he's an eagle scout, he plays volleyball and track for our school, he's in a band, and he has to manage his social life and he has very controlling parents. Don't be so hasty to jump to conclusions. My crew and I are a team and I think they put as much effort and spirit into our films as I do.

Ok, well here we go:

I need a poster saying 'Martyn Lennon' at the top in a bold-ish font. In the middle should be a futuristic space ship - of human origin. Half of the CIA badge on the right, faded behing the centre.

At the bottom, it should say 'James Stephens'

Other than that, not too fussy, have a play and see what you come up with!

I like the poster if there is a sword with a stone in the movie though that might look cool to include on the poster or since it's about the King and all and not Link then maybe adding a crown to the poster to give a hint that the movie is about the King.

Just my two cents though it's still and awesome looking poster.

Here you go, Vale! The design, tagline, etc. is entirely based on what I saw. Everything is interchangeable, although if it's close to what you want, I'd rather not.

Hey, this stuff is awesome, therefore, I to would like to request a poster.

I'm already making a film called "Corruption" it's a film based on people becoming corrupted(fantasy-based). Also, It's very eerie and creepy. Scary too I guess.

I guess, I'm looking for a gritty, scary, dirty look? I really don't know and wouldn't want to color your mind.

By all means, I would love to see your imagination at work.

It's directed by: Stefan Odrunia, if you need any other info. Feel free to PM.

Grande thanks!

Don't you mean "Wormwood"? Check your spelling before you ask someone to invest time into something you've spelled wrong.

I took the liberty of correcting it on the poster, but I accidentally saved over some stuff because of the whole spelling snafu.

Here's my poster, high-res PNG coming soon....

Hmmm.......the link is correct, it's just redirecting straight to the main ImageShack page. No matter, I'll just reupload it if SilverDragon or anyone else wishes to have it.

Lol, I shouldn't have put "fantasy based" but all I meant was, there was no real proof how people can be corrupted.

Its fantasy to say, corruption is a black cloud that consumes you...
you don't really see that everyday =P

However the orange color sure surprised me, I wasn't even expecting a color like that in my film. Kudos

I know I didn't make the original, but for your viewing pleasure here's the Corruption poster in two variations of green, in case that's more of the color scheme you had in mind.

Curious if by looking at my poster and website you might be able to make me a poster. I was kind of curious if someone could make something not better so much than what I have but maybe something different I was planning on using the poster I have for the movie cover so something just as eye catching would be awesome.

If you have the time.

Thanks!

It would be nice if you could make me a poster.

Here's the layout I need:
"IceFire"
"Productions"
(Picture behind the text, you can play around with a logo, blue flame, ice cube on fire...)

The words "productions" should smaller and in black text.
"Ice" should have an Ice kind of texture and "Fire" should be on flames/in ashes and still burning.

The background, I was thinking, could be all white or all black, ohh and the ground should be reflective and reflect the whole logo.

These are my ideas, I'll let you put them togther how ever you want and let you do your own magic.

Allright, what I need is a logo in front of a black background. It should say "Dynamite Studios". It would be cool too if you add silver edges. To be simple, just do it kinda like this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-is63goeBgc
Just like the title "RVD2" thank you. I hope u understand since a picture is 1000 words. Also make it the same letters(or close)cause I really like the style. Please could u do one that's red, and another one that blue(same thing of course) I just don't know which one will fit best. Thank you.

I think the first post in this thread deserves massive +1's. The other 2 designers in this thread deserved to be noticed and appreciated, so I send my +1's to them. If they made a poster for me, I'd send them force as well. But I think some people need to read the rating FAQ.

http://fxhome.com/support/faq/rating#a2

Also, Ben. I am going to get you those pictures Sunday night/Monday.

Okay, I know it looks like I've sort of done the same old grunge thing with most of the ones I've done, but it's a long process for many of 'em. More than just throwing layers on and setting the composite toggle.

The Wormwood one is cheesy, I know, but that is like 30 layers, man. So sorry if I've been backed up, haha.

I'm on the Martyn Lennon one next. I have something rough, but there's no space ship (I wanted it like flying into a sunbeam in the sky, but that didn't work out) and it's incredibly generic and similar to what I've been doing. So, basically, I'm starting fresh on that one.

Below is what I've got already, in all its glory (or otherwise)...

JUIDAR, I'm getting on yours, although tyguy or my bro could probably whip something up quicker.

I'm also still awaiting a response on my 'Clench' poster. I know it's just a cheesy mockup of an actor, but I'd like criticisms on it if Brian can answer me here! biggrin

Rough "IceFire" production logo done. I did it as crisp icy and as fluid firey as I could (I had to use MVSans bold font like on the Martyn Lennon poster so that the textures could even register) so this is what I have. I can still do an on-fire ice cube, if you want, but I think this should be sufficient...

As always, a high-res PNG is on its way. If you'd like a different format than PNG or low-quality JPEG, just tell me.

Yeah! Let's tell those people helping us for free that them responding to someone timely and explaining the delay why they shouldn't! smile

That'll some 'em! Maybe then they'd make those posters faster!

And saw-ree, szepancjdhiedh, if we're not nicey-nicey enough for you. Offering a task, especially during our own college application times, is a lot- and should (IMO) be treated graciously, not forcefully or disdainfully. The apparent 'entitlement' of some of these people, specifically brand-new members, amazes me. Especially when they are dealing with some of the only members left that have been here more than a couple months to a year.

This whole thing is the secret word:

There is alot i ca say to respond to this, but i don't want to be the core of a new argument happening on this forum. And i was mainly reffering to the person who gave RodyPolis the minus one. And they know who they are.

One or two moments of lameness against a few hours of poster-making.

It's a trade-off I'm willing to take. It's not like I got any +1's for IceFire logo, Martyn Lennon poster, or the Wormwood poster. Might as well make it re-known that I like positive ratings, haha.

Hey, I was wondering if you could make me a banner please. cause those one u made are really good. Just make one for Assassins In New York City and add coming soon somewhere in the banner. It's really kind of u for doing all this, lots of us usually don't have good presentation. And sorry about the whole Dynamite Studios misunderstanding. I just thought that since you have so many request, u forgot to read my post. About the whole 1+ thing, u have all the right to ask for it since it cost the person nothing.

Well if the options of request are still open would someone be willing to create a studio logo for me.

The name would be:

Terrain Studios

I would like to have elements of mother earth within the image but I would really like to give complete creative control to anyone that wishes to tackle this. If you could make it to where it could be used as letterhead or a webpage header as well that would be great. I would like to add there is a huge amount of talent here and it is amazing to be able to tap into this.

thanks,

Doug

Okay, DaFlea. Here you go! I did my best to make something snappy, rustic, and also functioning as a header.

New post! Here you go, Rody! I hope it's what you were talking about, in the uber-wide dimensions with the same flair as the poster.

Wow that looks great it’s completely different to what I imagined but only better…

Do you still have any of the base images that I can use for my website creation as well.

Again thanks it looks great.

You've been doing great guys.

Is it possible if you could make a banner for The Worst of Times> I don't care if it follows what you've already created or not, I'm sure you'll make it look great anyway wink.

It's a trade-off I'm willing to take. It's not like I got any +1's for IceFire logo, Martyn Lennon poster, or the Wormwood poster. Might as well make it re-known that I like positive ratings, haha.
But lets not forget this:
You are rating how useful you think the post is to the community, not just to you. You are not voting about if you agree or disagree. Its more to do with the validity of the post, is it good, bad, helpful or unhelpful?

Don't rate messages just because the author is your friend or has helped you out in some other way. This is misleading to other users and destroys the whole system. The rating is designed as a way to highlight good posts.

Well +1's also give extra force... So instead of transfering force directly (and losing what you transfered) it's easier to +1...

And I may have anyother, small request... If one of you could try to make a cool looking bird (for Dodo Bird logo) from this bird (yes made in paint wink) I would deeply appreciate it.

Ah, but is a poster/creating things on request useful to the community? I would understand if you were dealing with comments or ideas, but actual digital work is something entirely different.

No, it's useful to the person it's made for. Similarly if I gave everyone in my community an oil painting of my aunt's dog it would be of no real benefit or value to anyone but my aunt but if I supplied each member of my community with a selection of cold meats it'd be something that the majority would be able to use and benefit from (For the purposes of this lecture something like Sharp's audio downloads come under the heading "Cold Meats"). You're providing a service that's useful and that's commendable but the individual posts are not useful to more than one person - the person who requested the poster- and as such should not really +1ed.

For someone making mostly nearly unreadable posters, you are being quite a little too cocky for my taste. Now you two are God's gift to graphic design?

Please. You mentioned something about one of the few helpful members left. You may be helping people, but the people that came before you were much more helpful and much more humble. (Hajiku Flip comes to mind.)

Can't we just keep the peace here?

It's just a forum board, a bunch of coding put together for us to chit-chat and converse with each other over the World Wide Web. And I can't find one decent reason for anyone to fret over how as more green +'s then red -'s?

Some of you may say 'That's just because you only have 17 positive posts to 62 negitives!' And if you say this it only proves my point here... I don't really care. So why should you care about my positives/negitives?

So if someone asks you (nicely) to give them a +1 for doing something time consuming, you should.

[/rant]

:EDIT: And if any of you say, 'Your only saying this because you like the Adams brothers.' Then I have to say, maybe I do, but someone has to.

No one is fretting over who has more pluses or minuses. I think the point has been brought up about how the ratings system works. If you are seeking payment of FXperience when doing a job you should state it before you take on work. Getting a plus one is not the same as transferring FXperience to someone. I digress.

Dragon, my point was that Atom blatantly disrespects a fellow FXhome member in what he will no doubt call a jokingly fashion. The point remains that if you want to be helpful and assist members of the community, just do it and don't beat around the bush about how you'd like to be recognized for your efforts.

You state an opinion in your post, and then twice say, "Oh, you can't argue with me because of X." That's not how a forum, made from a bunch of code put together, works.

A bit crazy with the minus one button, aren't we? I see no invalidity in this post....

sfb, you don't have to like the posters, but don't insult them. I have no intention of arguing with anybody in this thread, and I'd appreciate it if we stuck to only discussion pertaining to posters and poster requests.

I think I speak for myself, Atom, and tyguy when I say none of us are seeking FXperience from doing this. It's simply to help out the community. I don't think anywhere any of us claimed to be the best, we're just doing something we'd like to think we have some skill at (however small) that can help people out.

I do, however, appreciate positive ratings, because those show that I'm a helping person, which is something I'd like to represent. I'll gladly hand the FXperience I gain from all these positives back to the people who rated me, if that's an issue; but essentially, while I'm not seeking positives by making posters, it is a greatly appreciated thanks.

I think you'll notice I have 200+ ratings but less than 1600 FXperience. This is because FXperience is not something I wish to gain, it's unequivocal to me. I've given a lot of mine away. If I'm after anything, it's being positively rated so I don't look so much like a 'troll' or what have you, as my reputation is often connotative of. But that's neither here nor there.

Ultimately, I hope everyone will respect my request and refrain from argument in this particular thread. We've all had enough of that lately.

Thank you.

I just think that (weather or not your mis-using a system) that you should respect someone's wishes for doing you a small to huge favor.

SilverDragon, Ben and anyone else who thinks it's fine just to disregard whatever rules you disagree with: It's not an issue of whether you gain FXperience or whatever from these ratings, it's that the green +1s are supposed to flag up posts that would be worth everyone, from the newbies upwards, reading. If you want to "reward someone" then just transfer some egotrip points in the normal way and don't abuse the system just because you want to seem more useful or because you don't want to lower your own total.

I don't choose to disagree with the rating rules. I do, however, think there is leeway as to how people are rated in some instances. The fact that people like myself and my comrades are making posters for people is indeed on a singular basis- and should not be rated as such- but the fact that the general service is available to community is something I could see ratings being justified for.

Hence what Serpent said in his post. And quick note: you help someone, that's not seeming helpful, that's being helpful. I'm not saying this necessarily applies to me, but I think this distinction needs to be made. And of course I mean no disrespect, but people don't always have ulterior motives like you might think.

But I digress...

Double post due to entirely different subject matter:

DaFlea, what kind of website are you looking to make?

Maybe I can help you out. Check out Atomic-Pro.com and see if any of the styles/layouts there suit anything you're looking for.

Well I am still toying around with my idea of what I want. I do allot of website development at work using DotNetNuke. I’m just not what I consider a graphic artist. I am ok using Photoshop but nowhere to the level some of you posses. I just wanted to get more elements related to the theme that ATOM created for me so I have enough material to carry out the theme.

Your work is impressive and yes if you are willing to lend a hand I would be a fool not to take you up on your offer.

Whatever happened to the good ol' days when Waser would say something entirely stupid, yet funny, and get +6? FXperience is supposed to be fun! If you like a post you see, rate it up! If you think the post is rubbish, rate it down!

Simple. smile

I do think it's funny to see Atom get rated down, because his responses to them in capital letters make me laugh.

Fine then, disregard all of the rating rules but when the universe implodes as a result you're all screwed. I however will be safe in my ivory tower astride my high horse and enjoying a big bowl of "I told you so". Prepare for the apocalypse!

Hey guys, posted this in a different forum but juidar said i might have better look here>>>>>>>>>>>>

Making a new logo for my movies which says Cerberes Movies on. I have a Jpeg of the actual text (with special effects from photoshop) but now i want to put special effects onto this (preferably fog with a wolf howl on) for use with all my small animation ect. Can someone explain to me whether there is a way to save the file or whatever so that it can be used everytime in unlead videostudio?

I have tried saving it as a project with the sfx on but i cannot open it in windows movie maker or unlead. Is there atall a program or something that will convert it to a suitable format ready for editing or do i have to aply the sfx to the start every time i have finished the final edit with sfx?

Thanks

Really not getting who/what he's talking about, are you? smile

JUIDAR, I'm on it now (yours too, Cerberes). I've been busy with senior year and college stuff and haven't gotten around to FXHome stuff lately, sorry.
It's all good I'm grateful that your even considering it thanks man can't wait to see what you come up with.

Well, JUIDAR, following what you said and reading through your site briefly, this is what I came up with:

I hope it's what you're looking for.

Here you go, too, Cerberes! I hope yours works for you as well. Unfortunately, unless tyguy expressly offers it, you probably shouldn't ask for anything animated on this thread. It's more of a logo/poster-only place. (contrary to what ChristianFilmer may think smile)

Anywho, here:

Although, might I say it's fairly easy to animate that logo yourself depending on what NLE you use. And with one of the lab products, you can do even more, adding optics or animating it with special effects. For our intro logo we've used constantly, I took an old AlamDV2 plugin, rendered it with text as the video, added optics, and re-rendered with fading text over that.

And that's something we've used for nearly 3 years now.

Atom I really like it and I was wondering if maybe the same concept poster but perhaps with some different wording or maybe adding something to it.

If there was a way to show that magic and ki are in the movie and I really like the hand. Ki is pure solid energy and magic is well sparkly often. 0_o

A couple of things about the film:

1. It has ki and magic in it. - I like the choice thing but the film isn't about people making that choice.

2. The whole good versus evil thing. - maybe some red eyes on the poster?

3. Maybe something like "How far will you go(push yourself) to protect the ones you care about(love)"

And again I'm just rambling off ideas. But something to that effect and sorry I didn't give you this info earlier.

Thanks atom looks great, can 't wait to start putting it onto my films lol. I just however have 2 things to ask:

could you possibly encorperate a werewolf or vicious dog into the logo like in the bottom right corener fairly faint sort of smoothed into the background (if that is possible lol). Sort of black or a dark colour to fit in with the background.

Secondly i would like to ask, for special effects (a thunder bolt) i would like to save this file as a format that i can use everytime in editing software but my current software won't accept the "project" format. Does anyone know whether there is a program or an option on effects lab pro so that i can save it as another format? otherwise i have to add the logo special effects with all other special effects post editing.

Again thanks atom haha youve saved me from killing myself due to the annoyance of how crap all my logos seem to come out as. this was my best attempt at my film logo http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=YrFgiUoqjzw. As you can see my skills at creating static imagges are somewhat limited lol

Hey guys I don't know exactly what's going on but I was wondering if you could come up with a logo for Matt Alan Studios. I have been stumbed again and again trying to come up with one. If I am doing something wrong by replying at this time let me know cause I am clueless. Thanks.

Just to remind people about how the post rating system works:

You rate a post up if it's "helpful or of general use for the community", not to award a user for something he's done for you personally.

You rate a post down if it's "useless, rude or makes no sense", not to disagree with a user or punish a user for not doing something for you personally..

The offer to make free posters IS useful to the community hence deserves a posite rating. The single posters aren't. Now don't make me start to mod this. Ben and Atom offer their help to make posters. so those interested in this good offer should take it, those not interested should keep out of this thread.

Could you make me a poster for my movie "Fantastic Four vs. The Creature From the Black Lagoon"? The name is for the most self-explanatory, the Creature From the Black Lagoon bands together with a UFO to come and fight the Fantastic Four. Could you include the tagline "The Creature Returns". I'd be fine with anything you could create. Thanks!

Will do as soon as I can. I'm visiting the film school at the University of Texas right now (#3 film school in the nation!) and am really liking it.

I'm off to look at USC later next month and then (maybe) I'll meet up with my buddy Evman and give NYU another gander.

Sorry to bug, but I was looking it over and realized a typo, it says Prodution instead of Production. If you could fix it it'd be great, if not just say the word and I'll work with it myself. thanks

Fixed by having Photoshopped tyguy's, Vale. The 'R' is different in 'Production', and it does look less sleek and a little tacky, so hopefully he'll get back to you with a revision of the source file.
