While we're not huge fans of the Halo games here at FXhome, we do love a good bit of Aliens/Starship Troopers-style marines-in-space action. Therefore the troubled Halo movie has caught our attention, particularly with the release of director Neill Blomkamp's short concept tests. A new one's just leaked out and it's pretty spiffy, showing some decidedly gritty and 'real' sci-fi warfare. Here's hoping these shorts raise enough interest to get the feature project back on track.

Wow, the first video was cool and all, but it didn't impress me too much. This one is an entirely differet story. I really liked it, and liked that director's style. Fingers crossed that the release of Halo 3 can muster enough money and attention to get the movie back.

I can't believe many here aren't fans. I think it's a great game... And I hope the movie is a great movie.

There are still lots of Halo fans here, it's only us grouchy FXhome staff members that don't like it. smile I think that's mainly because most of us are traditionally PC gamers, and in that arena Halo wasn't really anything special. Even on the original Xbox, however, I'd argue that Chronicles of Riddick was a vastly better FPS. smile

None of that stops the movie from looking potentially kick ass, however. It's about time we had some more marines-in-space action!

Hm, very interesting indeed.

Even though I also don't care one bit for the game, I'm always interested in good gritty sci-fi. And this looks potentially very cool!

This has potential.

But so did Doom.

I've been a fan of Neil Blomkamp's work for a while (especially Yellow), and both Halo shorts have impressed me. I'm quite interested in the FLIR-type camera views views seen there, and from the looks of it, the Covenant won't come off looking cheesy like I was afraid of (although those Brutes didn't put up much of a fight). Now, if only we can see some Spartans in action!
