Pixar's next movie has got us excited, as it's their first attempt at proper science fiction. WALL-E follows the adventures of a robot left behind on Earth after humans have departed. It's being directed by Andrew Stanton, brains behind the classic Finding Nemo, and intriguingly is rumoured to have very little spoken English. Given that Ben Burtt has been brought on board to provide R2-D2-style bleeps and whoops, that might not be too far from the truth. There's a new promo video over at Slashfilm.

I believe Pixar to be the greatest movie studio ever. To my knowledge, there is no other studio with a perfect track record. Every single movie they have made has been brilliant, which would seem to create a reputation that would be exceedingly difficult to live up to, but by now, as they haven't disappointed yet, they seem to be totally capable. I'm really looking forward to this.

There is a definite Johnny 5 element to the WALL-E. smile

And I agree with Axeman, Pixar are inexplicably good, so much so that it must break some kind of cosmic rule of chance.
