Introductory flash video...

I dunno about you, but I utterly HATE it when I load into a site and some crap starts playing over my music or something like that. The MySpace effect. Anyways, I was wondering if... maybe.. we could turn off the autoplay for that introductory flash video, making it user's choice.
At the very least, if we could make each intro video have 5-10 seconds of silent video, allowing me (and others who agree with me) to escape to "Community" before the audio starts playing? Thanks, yeah, that'd be great.

I don't usually have this problem because I have the forums page set to my home page, but it has happened to me before and I see what you mean, I doubt a lot of people like being unexpectedly blasted with sound upon entering FXhome (especialy if it's there first time?) Another solution is that it could play an audio-less video like it used to.

For your problem with the Myspace one. Go to Account Settings > Miscellaneous then under Players tick the box that say 'Other players > Auto-start profile and band music players.'
Now your problem should be fixed

If you turn down the volume on the flash video, it stays turned down if the page is re-accessed. That worked for me, but since it's my home page everything might be stored somewhere, or maybe it's just Safari's doing. Not sure, give it a go.

Well, I set my homepage to the forum page... and solved my problem. I'm an idiot.

I think it's cool Fxhome added in sound- it really makes the effects more realistic for some reason. But you're right. Maybe they should start out quiet and fade in.

Obviously. Film, especially the special effects in film, paired with sound make a very realistic and immersive experience.
My complaint is not with the quality and immersiveness of the flash video itself, my complaint has to do with web design. Maybe I'm off on my own here, but I HATE it when I load into a website that has sound. Generally I'm listening to my own music, I could really care less about web sounds -- I care about the content... and sounds aren't remotely useful or conducive to conveying that.

I completely agree with you, A Pickle. I also have a strong aversion to websites which hijack my audio.
