Buy products.
Make useful posts (you get +1s for good posts if someone rates you up, which gives you 10 force, or 1 pixel to your avatar).
Help people: If you help someone on a project, they might reward you with force via force transfer.
Make presets: I'm not sure if you can make presets with the demo, but if you own the software, you can make presets and upload them. Bronze, Silver, and Gold is awarded based on preset quality and each gives you a different amount of force.
Win contests: Hauntfest, for example, is right around the corner (see the filmmaker's forum). Once of the prizes is force.
Establish yourself: if you are funny, nice, etc., people may give you +1's for posts that they think others should read. Posting interesting stuff ties into that as well.
Use what you are best at: People help in various ways. The member 'Sharp', for example, provides FXHomers with free sound effects and songs. He doesn't post much, but when he does he rakes in +1's. Find your strengths.
Don't be hated: If you are a jerk, spam a whole lot, or troll, people may be less willing to rate your posts up.

I think that's all/most of the ways to get force. Did I say force? I meant FXperience.

A signature picture is another way to distinguish yourself. So before you get the avatar, you can get someone to make you one or make one yourself.
