In one of the more bizarre pieces of casting recently, Simon Pegg has been anounced as playing Scotty in JJ Abrams' forthcoming Star Trek movie. While it's undeniably cool to have Pegg in a Star Trek film, he doesn't seem to be a glaringly obvious choice for Scotty. Nevertheless, a Trek film with Pegg and Eric Bana has got to be better than Nemesis, right?

I'm surprised I'm one of the only people I know of who is totally geeking out about this. Considering that John Cho is going to be Sulu, Uhura is a babe, and the indian dude from Short Circuit is going to be in Lost, this has been a brilliant week in the world of casting.

Eric Bana has been casted as the villian, too. I know nothing about Star Trek other than Patrick Stewart is in it alot, but this movie looks to rock.

Chris Pine is in the running to play Kirk. I hope it works out for him. His likeness and style both fit.

Simon pegg is brilliant (I was surprised to see him last night whilst watching I'm Alan Patridge- he could be in it a lot- i dunno i was hust channel surfing....flicking- channel flicking- no- browsing!) I'm not much of a star trek fan but...Scotty? Hmm...i guess we'll have to wait and see.
