What game? Team Fortress 2 (PC)
When? Friday 19th October 20:00 BST/03:00 PM EST - Remember to check the FXhome Steam group for the time in your timezone, due to daylight savings and more.
How? Join the FXhome Steam group!

The event is over!

Just came back from playing with a bunch of FXhomers! It was a lot of fun, but I think everyone came to the conclusion that it would be much more fun if we had our own server (will probably try to get one of those until the next event) as just loads of unknown annoying people came in and shouted. Pictures here!

Update 19/10 -07
Today's the day! Make sure you have everyting ready until later, and join the FXhome chatroom in the FXhome group on Steam when it gets closer to the time when it starts. Remember to look at the event calender in the FXhome group to find out exact details for when the event starts in your area!

Update 18/10 -07
Tomorrow's the day! Make sure you're logged into Steam by tomorrow (with mics, of course) somewhere around 20:00 GMT, and we will start a chat in the FXhome Steam Group chatroom (that means you have to be a member of the FXhome group, links below) concerning what server we will be playing on! If you can't make it to 20:00 GMT, you should just be able to pop into a game later, since we will probably play for a while. If you should find time to play, and you're not on the "Confrimed Players" list, don't hesitate to join now!

Confirmed Players - 11/24
Redhawksrymmer
Tarn
CoolKabe
Waser
Multiwagon
Vilhelm Nielsen
Videoace123
Pooky
Frank Grimes
xanetia
Cogz

General Info

I thought of getting some FXhomers together for a so called "FXhome Gaming Event" this Friday (as we have had before in games such as "Gears of War" last year). I thought it could be a fun and a great way for people to get to know eachother better, while hunting kills in what might be the best online multiplayer shooter out there?

If anyone is able to attend, reply to this topic with your Steam username (so I can add you to the "in-list"). Also, don't hesitate to join the FXhome Steam group. Beware that there are only 24 places available, so act fast!

Since I only own the PC version I won't be able to set up a game for 360 users, but if anyone is interested in doing that, please post in this topic and I will include it in the main post!

Looking forward to it! What's everyone's favourite class? Personally I find it rather difficult to actually choose, as they all have a large doseage of funability. Can't go wrong with a bit of Sniper action, however.

...

Actually, you can go wrong with the Sniper. Primarily when you're doing fantastically well, supporting your team and giving them an access route by sniping it clear of the enemy......only for a certain Spy by the name of David 'Xcession' Cranwell to sneak up behind you and stab you in the neck.

Damn you Xcession, damn you straight to Hades.

Hopefully I'll be able to get revenge this Friday. wink

P.S. I just discovered that I joined Steam exactly 3 years ago today. So that would be the first time I played HL2, ever. Aah, happy memories!

I really want to do this, but I'm stuck in dial-up internet world. I live 8 miles from the biggest collection of high-speed internet in my part of the country, and stupid zoning laws are making it so that I can't get it! ...Yet. >_<

That said, would it even be worth trying it on dial-up? I know Counter Strike works, but I'm not sure about this one... unsure

Absolutely no idea, CoolK, but it's probably worth a go. Just don't try to be a sniper, as you'll never hit anything. wink

lol, "CoolKabe" My actual Steam Profile on the website isn't set-up yet, but try back later tonight/tomorrow, and it'll be good to go. I'm gonna go ahead and go to a friend's house and game on his internet. (Look out Tarn, haha.)

You don't appear to be in the FXhome Steam group, Waser.

You have approximately 3 seconds to correct this mistake, or you won't receive any cake.

Instead of a microphone though, i'll comunicate solely through the pyro's voice commands so you'll understand me better.

DAMN! Are you still going to be playing two hours later? I can get there in time for 4-5PM EST, which I think is 9-10PM GMT.

If so, count me (Arreck) in for sure. I want to blow up Tarn or Waser.

And BTW I recommend moving it up to 9 or 10PM GMT next time for us EST people, or doing it during the weekend.

Hhhmmmm, ill be in provided that a) I buy TF2 and get steam, and b) i can get up at 8 to play at 9 in the morning.

I think I can, so you can shortlist me, but kick me off if you run out of room, normally I would play this in the internet cafe after work which is about 4-6 am GMT :p

Added all of you guys. I will be trying to set up a dedicated server on a spare computer here at home. Got a pretty fast internet connection, but if it all lags too much we might have to join another server. I will create a room in the Live Chat for everyone to join on Friday, so you can keep up-to-date on where we are playing! (Name of server etc.)

Don't forget Steam has its own chat system now, Redhawk. smile So if everybody joins the FXhome Steam group, come the time we can all just pile into the FXhome Steam chat room!

Good luck on setting up the server, Red...that'd be exceedingly spiffy.

OK, after lengthy struggles with my monetary concience, the gaming demons have won out!!

I will endeavour to D/L steam tonight when I get home, get up at 8AM tommorow to install steam, buy TF2, install and start playing at 9AM (is this possible, or do you think I should get up earlier?)

Hopefully my name should be Xanetia (I'll try sign up at the internet cafe, couldn't figure out how to at work :p) will notify when I do.

As a side note, any dedicated medics? that invunerable is damn useful biggrin

Yeah, get Steam going ASAP, even if you've bought the box from a store, as it'll need to download updates etc and you're never entirely sure how long that might take. smile

Really looking forward to it! Everyone pile into the FXhome chatroom at the allotted time, and we'll get the ball rolling. biggrin

I'm still undecided on what class to play as...

Do people have a preference on the type of map? Control point, capture the flag etc?

For everyone else - I look forward to seeing you guys tonight! Can't wait. If you've got a digital camera, get it ready and take a photo of yourself playing so we can do a report on it afterwards. wink

The event is over (for this time!). It was a lot of fun, and there should be some images from the games uploaded soon! Thanks to everyone who participated, and I think we'll get a proper password-protected server until next time due to loads of unknown annoying people...anyway, it rocked playing against all of you!

Well, that was manic. smile

After the usual server and microphone difficulties,, we eventually got a game going on 2fort and much fun was had by all. There were about 8 of us in the end, I think, bolstered by a couple of random people that joined in as well.

Eventually our gaming bliss was spoilt by the arrival of a Typical Online Gaming Idiot, who rather liked the sound of his own voice. A few of us migrated to other servers where the fun was continued, until we could take it no longer.

Here's a few amusing pics from the evening:

http://picasaweb.google.co.uk/TrantonSeldon/Gaming

We're looking into getting a private FXhome server, so that we can game in peace. razz
