Hi, I would like to create an effect such as in Star Wars Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith where sparks fly out and you can see red hot scorch marks on the wall when a lightsaber strikes it. Can anyone tell me how this is done?

Thanks

The sparks would be hard with these programs and I would suggest a 3d apps particle generator. As for the scorch marks on the wall, I use a neon light freehand shape, draw the scorch marks, and mess around with the glow settings and blending modes. Usually the 'Multiply' blending mode works well.

However, if your camera is not locked down during the scene you want scorch marks on, you may run into some trouble. None of the fxhome products have Tracking, so you would have to animate the scorch marks to follow the wall as your camera moves. This can be insanely difficult to do by hand, even if your a little bit off it can be very obvious and really take away from the scene.
