Tournament has now ended.

Well, it's not exactly a "tournament" it's more like a FXhome member "get-together" in Halo 3, sort of... This is for anyone that actually plays the game here. I just thought that this could potentially be a lot of fun.

Here's some rules that I came up with:

Everyone will play on a set date that we can play on. (I do not yet have an official date set)

Everyone needs to set up one gametype or map to play in. Submit it to me via fileshare.

Everyone can have one guest maximum (not sure about this one yet)

Each person that plays will become party leader when it comes to playing on their map or gametype.

Current Players

Me (FreshMentos2)
CX3 (eGul i)
ChristianFilmer 100001 (jmsmagic)
Frosty G (Frosty G)
SilverDragon7 (SlvrDragon7)
Griggsy92 (Griggsy92)
Redhawksrymmer (Redhawks Live)
Serpent (Waiting for Gamertag)
Rebourne (the DFA)

Post in this topic with your gamertag and if you want, you can explain what your gametype or map is. I'll list you down once you post. I'm thinking that this upcoming Friday (11/9/07) would be a good day to play. All of this is subject to change. PM me if you have any other advice for the rules. There will be no tournament if we do not get at least 5 FXhomers to play.

P.S.
If you're here to bash the game, please make a new topic about it. I don't want this thread to get destroyed by something unnecessary.

All right, looks like I should be able to join. I'm using my friend's XBox and gamertag, so he'll be "my" guest. I'll get you his gamertag later this week.

Hey I am up for it.

My game type will be infection on a really cool map a friend of mine made. He will be my guest.

Our gamer tags are: Griggsy92 and Biqflix

Although I am not sure whether it can work out because it appears that we are the only British guys interested and what with the small problem of time zones and school, it could become difficult.

Great idea.

Me, I've been waiting for this

right now my names "the DFA" but I am getting it changed either today or the next so I'll post what it is.

My map will most likely be a mongoose rocket race on sandtrap or shotty snipers on valhalla.

Hehe me too i'm pretty sure I've defined myself a few times on there, oh and the reason i wasnt on the whole weekend was because my mom walked into my room at 3:00am while I was playing it thats why I got off so fast. I finally can play again today so... yeah

Yeah, I knew timezones would be an issue. If us in America were to play Friday night, wouldn't it be Saturday morning on your side of the globe?

Also, Would it be possible to just download your friend's map through fileshare? I want to get as many FXhomers to play as I can. I'm pretty sure that I can only hold 16 players (correct me if I'm wrong please).

I live on the West Coast. So If you don't live on the Pacific, you're going to be a couple hours ahead of me. I was thinking around 19:00 hours for Pacific players, so that would make it around 22:00 hours for you easterners. and either 20:00 or 21:00 hours for all of you in between.

BCN, aren't you be 8 hours ahead of U.S. Pacific time?

Redhawksrymmer, what would your time be compared to my time?

9PM West Coast = 10PM Mountain Time (US)
9PM West Coast = 11PM Central Time
9PM West coast = 12AM East Coast
9PM West Coast = 3AM UK

This might make it easier for some of you because I too live on the West Coast.

Hi.
Fresh Mentos, I did some calculations, not sure if they are right. At the time I come in from school it will be about 8 or 9 in the morning in california. I recently got back from Nevada and I think you are in the same time zone right? Please correct me if I am wrong.

So say you started playing at 11:00AM it would be like 7:00 PM for us Brits. Or is it only possible in the evening your time?

My gamertag is Biqflix not Griggsy92 (that was my friends) sorry for the mix up.

Griggsy92 is a part of fxhome, he just is a little nervous to post. He signed up about a month ago, so if he could play it would be great because he is really good and he kind of is an fxhomer. His fxhome name is the same as his gamertag.

I will get him to post his own response in this forum.

I didn't say it was three hours. I said 11:00AM california time would be 7:00PM for me (UK), Fresh Mentos location is california right? The difference is 8 hours and unless I am having a stupid moment, that is a difference of 8 hours behind. I was talking directly to him and any body else in that time zone.

Damn this is getting complicated.

Sorry I didn't see your post earlier Fresh Mentos about the timings.

OK so you want to do it at 19:00 hours your time right? That is 3 in the morning for me and for Redhawk I think is about 4 in the morning Swedish time.

Unless we can think of something else, perhaps I should set up a tournament for Europeans off the back off this one? I am not wiling to spend my entire saturday catching up sleep no matter how much I love Halo and FXhome smile

Okay, This is the best schedule that I could come up with for Friday

4:00 p.m. west coast
5:00 p.m. mountain
6:00 p.m central
7:00 p.m eastern
12:00 a.m in the U.K.
1:00 a.m. in Sweden

I know It's late for you Europeans, but it's the best that I could come up with. I could move it down to 3:00 p.m. but I'm not sure if everyone could participate. It would only be one hour for the people that might not be able to join in at that time though. It's also mid-day for most of us in America. What does everyone think of the proposed schedule? Should it go down one hour?

Hey guys,

I think that this halo 3 tournament game idea is immense and has great potential if done right and by what Freshmentos has written i think that it will be a great succes!!!

I particularly like the idea of switching games so that people can show off their maps and play the games they like. The only thing that i think that you might need to be carefull of is that no one immature is put to host as the leader has the power to remove players. Although i don't think that is likely to happen as we are talking about Fxhome here! biggrin

I am not sure if this was your intention and i apologise for intruding if it was...but may i make the suggestion that instead of every game switching leader you have it so there is one fixed leader, mainly you ( Freshmentos), and everyone uploads to their file share thier maps and games. This might help prevent anyone having resentment to giving up leader and all games played can easily be downloaded.

This is only an idea and please don't take the wrong idea that i was trying to intrude. I am sure that this will be a great success and i would definelty like to put my gamertag down (Griggsy 92). I will be greatly anticipating the set date and time and i am sure that we will all have great fun. I think that this is an ace idea and maybe it could be a regualr thing if successful?

I know that a friend of mine is thinking about organising a GRAW 2 version of this tournament and he has started a similar topic. His Fxhome name is BCNproductions.

biggrin biggrin biggrin Look forward to it!!!! biggrin biggrin biggrin

Hey Griggsy thanks for the mention. I wouldn't worry about that kind of thing on here, we are all pretty mellow guys. It is pretty cool that you have FINALLY posted, but I wouldn't worry about resentment as we are one big friendly community and we kind of know each other. I don't know how Mentos is going to run it, but don't worry it will be cool either way.

Welcome mate on behalf of the community. Happy fxhoming.

Mentos I can do that time you said, I have decided to try and pull an all nighter armed with caffiene. Both Griggsy and I are doing the same thing, so should be cool.

My gamertag is 'biqflix'
Griggsy92 is 'Griggsy92'

I am really sorry guys, scratch me off the list. I got the evil RED RING OF DEATH evil and have just spent the best part of my evening on the phone dealing with it.

It was freezing/crashing all evening in many different ways including blue screens, black screens, grey screens and just a still of what I was playing. Eventually (while on the phone to microsoft) the lights appeared.

Oh well another time guys. 15 days until I get it back (apparently).

For those of you who wonder what the ring of death is. It is the fatal flaw of the XBOX 360 design and components and it looks like this.

The XBOX locks up on boot up, the lights appear and the XBOX 360 doesn't send a signal to the TV. It just sits there blinking red lights at you saying:
"I'm dead, I'm dead, I'm dead"
Until you eventually give up restarting it and call microsoft, accepting that you may never see you console again as the only way to fix it is to send it to them. So you say good bye to your console and assure it that daddy still loves him and that the kind UPS man is going to make him all better frown .

Nobody is safe, the red ring hits a HUGE amount of 360s. At least microsoft have extended warranties so that red ring is still covered up to 2 years after the main warranty has expired, that is how big the red ring problem is.
THE RED RING EPIDEMIC is coming for you!!!!!

In all seriousness, have a great tournament guys, I hope you don't think I am spamming, I am not meaning to, I just feel a mixture of sadness and hyper-activity and I am quite mad.

I want to see loads of screen shots and videos and I hope it goes well.

@ Griggsy92, I actually really like that idea. I'll try to send a friend request to everyone by today, or tomorrow. But yeah, don't worry about anyone here doing immature stuff like removing players.

@ Serpent, Do you have a gamertag yet?

@ Everyone, I'm about to make 4:00 p.m. Pacific time on Friday the official time, so tell me now if it won't work for all of you.

EDIT: Oh Damn, That really sucks BCN. sad Hopefully you'll play in the next tournament. Well, we'll only have another one if this one goes well.

Oh yeah, does anyone have a way to capture video from their 360?

First of all, most of you are filmmakers that are playing. Second of all, Halo 3 records your past 25 games that you've played automatically. Third of all, I suspect most filmmakers have a video camera.

Run your 360 through a dvd player. Hook up your video camera to the dvd player in the video out and record straight to your camera. Recording video isn't that hard haha. I'm not sure but some peoples tv's might have a video out (mine doesn't) but check your tvs guys.

EDIT: Christian, thats whats your friends list is for. You select a friend who you are trying to play with and select "join session in progress" (That goes for any and every 360 multi-player game). If you can't do that then that means we are currently in a game and you have to wait till we're back in the lobby. Send Freshmentos a message if that happens and we'll invite you into the game when we're done.

Just checking (and i'm not trying to be rude AT ALL) but have you played 360 games on Xbox Live at all yet? Just checking because if you haven't, there's gonna be a few more things we might need to explain.

Griggsy, that's fine, one of will be able to get some video up sooner or later as the games will be saved.

My favorite game... even though I only played like 3 was infection on sandtrap with all the moongooses, you would turn around and there would be like 3 infected people chasing you or jumping at you out of no where, so awesome...
