I hope the whole movie isn't like it was shot on a camcorder that just happened to record it, that would get annoying.

The whole film will all be on handheld, at least that's my bet. I wouldn't worry too much though, how many of you didn't enjoy bourne ultimatum? The camera in that movie is all over the place but the film was still amazing.

For some reason I can't bring myself to join the hype for this movie, will look forward to it's release though. What's with the deforming woman in the new trailer?

DAMN.......... now I'm really starting to wonder what it is. I suspected Godzilla, and thought that after seeing the two "figures" start to eat the lady. Then I paused a few times at that part. They look kind of like hooded figures.

All I know is that this is not going to be a Godzilla flick. They probably want you to think that it is Godzilla. I remember reading somewhere that J.J. Abrams wanted to make a completely original monster movie.

Oh-oh! Wow wow wow! If this movie is terrible, I can still say that I thoroughly enjoyed this trailer. I really hope I'm not disappointed by this.

Thank God he wants to make something original. Remakes are starting to get a bit old... wink

I don't think they were eating her, I think they are guys in chem suits. It also looks like they are on a military base at the time. My guess is they are sort of "treating" people who come into contact with the monster. Reminds me a ton from The Host.

I love that part with the people-less carriage.

Actually it's two guys in Biohazard suits holding a lady who seems to be inflating (notice the gurgling sound)... maybe the monster transforms people.

I was wondering where I heard that sound!

Is the movie shot on a real handcam or a higher quality camera made to look bad. I seriously can't stand camcorder quality on a big screen.

It's shot with film cameras, can't you see the nice quality? It's just crapped up a bit for the trailer to get the idea across.

Anyways, once again, this movie looks kickass. Can't wait to see it.

I have never, EVER, understood why people seem to be so insistent that it's Godzilla or some other established monster franchise... I guess that's what happens when EVERYTHING Hollywood produces is a remake or a novel adaptation.

It's an original, kickass monster movie, give up guessing what it is, JJ Abrams has already confirmed that it's original, so just MOVE ON!

Did I mention great trailer?

One actually can see the monster for a couple of frames...but only its back...does look like a lizard kinda monster...could very well be that it has something to do with godzilla...even if JJ. Abrahms said that it is a totally new creature...

cool trailer though,

we shall see,
cheers,d.

It's not a Godzilla movie, Toho would have to have thier name some where as Godzilla is their property....

And they're very controlling over their properties.

Yeah, I don't get how it could be Godzilla either, it seems like it would be a little weird to make trailers that are so new and original just for another remake/sequel... that would be such a waste of an original idea too.

Not that I don't think this movie looks badass, but for those that are getting so offended by people calling it a Godzilla movie. Really? This is an original idea, yes, but don't treat it like something it's not.

It's a giant monster attacking...let me take a guess....New York City. Sigh. This looks cool, but is totally every other chaos movie. Even if it is done handycam-style.

filming steady-cam style with a filmcamera ist pretty tough...those arriflex cams are pretty heavy...30kg at the least !!!

plus handling zoom, exposure and keeping obejcts in focus...is pretty damn difficult...even if it is done with remotes nowadays...

cheers to dat

Just want to start by saying I am not part of the hype for this (yet) or anything. Trailers are pretty cool, that's all. So my question to you is: how do you know that it's like every other "chaos movie." Maybe there is a full plot analysis out there that I am missing? Right now I'm treating this as a film with interesting marketing. Maybe I'll become more or less excited as information is released.

Er, it's not. I never claimed it to be. I was simply saying that thinking that it's ______ (a "typical chaos movie", as you said, could fit in that blank) is a little bit prejudice. And actually, lots of films, most actually, have sucky marketing. So I really have no idea what you are calling me out on.

I just went through the forums, then ended up on this one after a while, and came to a conclusion...

Everyone has been so bloody serious and argumentative about the tiniest, most trivial things lately. I mean, come on. Calling someone out about their opinion about a movie trailer?

A lot of the time, I'll want to comment in a thread, but It's almost pointless, because I know it will only be a matter of minutes before someone will inevitably have to pick it apart because it doesn't perfectly align with their opinion.

This forum used to be fun...

(Now it's just getting kinda lame...)
