Either real squibs or Stock footage is the answer. Ideally both.

Check it out. I'm also working on an entirely new blood pack that rocks so far. Will be added shortly.

I know this post is an Advert away from FXH but I highly recommend VideoCopilot's Action Movie Essential. This has great stock footage, and can be used in FXHome products biggrin

What is Action Movie Essentials?
Action Movie Essentials is a generous collection of pre-keyed special effects elements that can be incorporated into any video program and used much like clip art. These elements include: Muzzle flashes, explosions, blood bursts, bullet holes, ricochets, fog banks and much more. This collection gives you the ability to incorporate dangerous live action effects from the comfort of your workstation. We broke laws so you don't have to.

Heh, counter-advertising. Loving it! biggrin

That action pack is great. I own it too. But you get WAY more clips with the super stock from
http://www.nccinema.ch/eshop.html wink

Hehe, having said that. Ideally, you own LOADS of different stock footage anyways. There's a good match for each occasion and the more you have, the better your work can become. Hence I own them all. smile

What i'm looking for are effects that are more grusome. I'm into horror and dark films. What do you suggest? I want better blood effects, skin tearing and ripping and eyes popping out etc. guts and blood effects. Can i do this with effectslab. if so how?
