People aren't going to come to you here. You have to show what you can do, even if you are doing it for free.

Silver Dragon is right. Even if this is free, people will want to see demos of what you can do.

And... Why would an array of cameras have anything to do with editing movies?

I agree with everyone else in that you really need to have examples of your work available if you want people to employ you (even unpaid) in the hopes of creating something serious.

In the case of being a film maker just looking to start out and get some editing done, then now would be a pretty good time to put that array of cameras to good use, don't you think?

Well, to answer your questions about what do cameras have to do with editing', my reply is this: Without cameras and footage you have nothing to edit. Also, if scenes need to be added, we have everything at our studio.

If I forget to shoot shot, are you going to hop on a plane to Florida and help me reshoot? We made the movie in the first place, why couldn't we reshoot are selves? And like how most people said, a demo reel would be nice. smile

I have a couple questions:

1) What does your editing studio consist of?

2) Are you and your friend just high school students trying to do something generous on the side of all of your school work, or is this an actual non-profit business?

3) What cameras do you have?

4) It's already been said but, what do your cameras have anything to do with editing our footage?

Lastly, you may not know this but most of the users on these forums already know how edit, and they can edit their own movies. I think a much more effective plan would be to put up an add on Craigslist for people that do not know how to edit. You could even make money that way. Money is always welcome, isn't it? biggrin

Thank you for the advice. I answered the camera question above. I will be putting a demo on soon. Yes,I am in highschool, but I am getting pretty good. Decide for yourself if you want to use the service after you see the demo. cool

Our editing studio consists of a blue and greenscreen, lots of lights, cameras (just in case), three computers (we usually use just one though), lightscribe DVD burners for finished product.

Great idea for a service or not, I've yet to see at all how this is implementable. No offense guys, but how do you plan to edit and/or reshoot footage from people across the country and/or world?

Could you be more specific, what types of computers are you running, with what types of editing software? do you have the ability to edit HD? What efects programs are you running? so on, and so forth, the more specifics you can provide about your "studio" the more willing people will be ot let you in on projects

I can do lightsaber battles, with lots of people in them and camera angles, we can do any neon effect and most particle effects. Basically any effect able to be done in Premiere or FX Home Effects lab Pro. Also I can do green screen and blue screen with video backrounds and photo backrounds. I can do movies in space and people flying, etc.

DVStudio,

Mate, whilst this is without question a generous offer, you make it sound like you're a seasoned pro, whereas all the questions you've asked on the forum (averaging 11 posts/day) suggest otherwise. You may want to walk before you can run, show what you've already made, etc.

I do agree with pdrg there. You say you can do this and that and are really good at alot of things, but my impression of all the 70-ish questions you've asked on the forum is that you don't know anything. My impression is you're just a bunch of guys with lots of money and computers (why not macs? mac beats windows bigtime in production matters.. Now I'm going personal opinions again -.-).

Just don't exaggerate. Don't say you can when you can't. One day you're gonna stumble and burn... Badly. You say you can do "virtually any effect out there", but you have asked three-four times how to make something where the answer was 3D. You ask HOW TO MAKE LIGHTSABERS on THIS WEBSITE?? You get the answers but you ask again. Research, kid?

Forum search is also a wonderful thing.

I'm really looking forward to see this demo of yours though biggrin

I'm with pdrg and Tommy on this one.

I've seen some of the questions that you've posted on these forums. I saw that you wanted to know if your camcorder had a firewire port on it and you also wanted to know how to make CG aliens from War of the Worlds. Now after reading questions like those and then offering all of this free editing, are you being realistic with yourself? I'm going to be honest here. I don't think that your going to find anyone here that couldn't just do the work that you offered to us on our own.

Also, having a variety of camcorders has nothing to do with editing someone else's video in post. wink

Now I'm not trying to offend you, and I hope you keep making movies. But I just don't think that this plan would fly. On the other hand, I do think that this would be a great local business for people that aren't filmmakers.

Or you might just blow us away with the video reel you promised us. biggrin

Are you going to ship the blue/green screen to the person so they can use it to film or do you have some new computer program which allows you to do bluescreen after the fact?

I can't seem to find the "filmreel" link which demo's your capabilities, could you post it again.

How about some pic's of your studio and maybe some screen shots of you software in action.
