No. However, the upgrade price is more than the difference in price between the two programs. In other words, buying VisionLab to start with is cheaper than upgrading later.

A full version of VisionLab typically costs $499, whereas an upgrade from Effectslab Pro is $385.

Until the end of the year however, during the Christmas sale, a full version of VisionLab is only $350.

Nope, you can upgrade to VisionLab for less than normal price but ultimately you'd end up paying slightly more than if you bought VisionLab normally. It's also worth noting that VisionLab is normally $500 but until January 31st they're having a Christmas deal and it's only $350 for the full version of VisionLab

Thats just Not right guys. Im sorry, but punishing people because they couldn't spend 500 dollars up front is just wrong. I see your products for discounts sometimes. Like christmas etc. You telling me you guys have to charge that extra 63 dollars to people who already paid for both apps? There is absolutely NO reason for you to do this to us. I will NOT be getting VL Studio. Im sorry. You have great products but I feel like your taking advantage of me not being able to afford the Whole Studio at once.

That's your choice, we never force anybody to upgrade. However, I want to point out that there are administration costs involved with upgrading a product, and we also get hit with 2 sets of transaction processing fees. I understand that you only see it from your point of view, but if there was no difference in price then we would actually lose money compared to a standard VisionLab purchase.

So yes, you are slightly better off buying VisionLab to start with, but you are not being "punished" for not buying it. Many companies wouldn't offer an upgrade option at all, and would make you pay the normal full price. So really we are offering you a huge discount, that you wouldn't otherwise get.

We always try to keep our prices as affordable as possible. We've often been told we could charge far more than we do at the moment, we could double all our prices and probably make more money. But we know there's a lot of filmmakers out there on really tight budgets, and it's always been our goal to make software that they can buy, and still have lots of money left over to actually make their films.

What if you have both effectslab pro and composite lab pro? Will the upgrade to visionlab be any cheaper? When you upgrade will you still get the bonus dvd's, green screen, etc?

All of the upgrade info is available in the store. Yes, if you own 2 apps the upgrade price is cheaper. The greenscreen, DVD's, et. are only available as part of certain bundles, so if you upgrade to one of those bundles, then yes, they will be included. If you upgrade to the standard VisionLab application on it sown, then nothing extra is included.

They can do whatever they feel like doing. Don't forget the PowerPlug attributes, which adds $99 to the cost. Plus the advanced features of many of the engines. Unless I'm mistaken, it's a discount rather than an added cost. And if it is, well, deal with it. If you feel like running a charity when you grow up, then fine. But FXhome is a business, ergo they can do whatever they like.
