Afternoon

I downloaded the Vision Lab demo this morning as I'm work with stop motion (15fps) and needed some effects.

I'm having a problem though with the 4 point neon light. I'm animating a lightsaber style short which is about 4 seconds long.

I'm following the video tutes and am selecting the neon light tool. The effect duration is set at 100 for this test. Firstly can that number be increased...? If not, how do I get round this when I go past the 100..?

Secondly I'm following the guide where it also says to turn the glow off for ease of drawing (which definately helps) and I'm also copying the last 4 point image and clicking it into the next field if the blade is in the same position as the last frame as this cuts down the time to do the glows while it also keeps the settings the same as the previous frame. Is this the correct method...? It seems to work nicely..!

Lastly when I'm previewing what I have done I find that the play back is jerky which looks like it has something to do with little white dots or markers where the render in and out points go.. I find that I had to run through each frame to remove all of the dots which then produced smoother playback.

Thanks for any help you can provide me with. It's a fantastic product..!

Thanks

Jay

There is a tool with two arrows (I can't remember it's proper name sorry!) at the top left of the timeline. Select this and place the cursor over the last frame of the effect - click and you can drag to extend the duration by dragging.

Use the "Crop" tool (pictured above) to decrease or increase the length of an effect. smile

I've been using Comp Lab and Vision Lab for a year or so and they are good but since getting VLab as a Christmas present - it's just great! I would highly recommend it. The lightning engine is a breeze to use and the results are high quality - it's worth the upgrade alone as far as I am concerned!

You might wanna make sure you don't wait any longer than that because right now there's a really good Christmas deal going on and it ends on January 31st, and you probably would prefer not to pay full price. smile

By the way, I'm not trying to sound like I'm advertising this to you or anything, I'm not part of the team and I wasn't payed or asked to say this... I'm just a satisfied customer. smile
