EVENT IS NOW OVERWhat Game? Team Fortress 2 (PC)When? Saturday 26th January. 8.00pm (GMT) 3.00pm (EST)
How? Join the FXhome steam group
Well after the FXhome fellas all met up and decided to kill each other in the last TF2 gaming event they kept talking about "creating another one sometime." Obviously FXhome has been pretty busy with their new product releases and other awesome news, and Redhawksrymmer has been busy with exams as far as I know. So, I've decided to get the ball rolling on this next TF2 event.Update: 15/01/08
Time has been confirmed, if there is any problems with the selected time please speak up.General Info
First off since Christmas has come and passed I'm pretty sure a few more people have got access to Team Fortress 2 now meaning more FXhomer’s will be able to meet up and blast the brains out of each other.
The last time the Team Fortress 2 event went underway the guys went to a server which wasn't theirs which meant random people joined in the game, well I've been trying really hard to get a running server using the "TF2 dedicated server" on steam but it just doesn't want to work. Any people who can create a server for the event would be fantastic, if not it'll have to all kick off on another server.
Once a date for the event has been concluded I'll get Tarn to put it up on the steam page like last time, but I will need to get a date where a lot of us are free. Feel free to suggest a date. Confirmed Players: 9/24[FXh]B3NNuttyBananaevman101Arreck (Pooky)TarnRedhawksrymmerJobyOne (Er-No)Fromez (Mellifluous)ErfaFinal words
If anyone is able to attend, reply to this topic with your Steam username (so I can add you to the "in-list"). Also if anyone has any microphones that work be sure to try them out during the game
Hope to see you all there!

Count me in.
I'm good to play anytime really unless it ends up being a stupidly late time on a weekday, can't be doing with work when I'm tired out from the night before
I'm in the UK so any evening. If it's gonna be a late one over in our timezone then try making it a weekend please
Have just thought why don't we get a server for a month? A 24 man server seems to be around the £25 mark, if anyone wanted to do it then I'd gladly donate over PayPal £5 or whatever to someone to get a server set up for us. Even if it's only for a month at least we can get an FXHome only game night out of it. I'm sure it won't be hard collecting £20 from 23 people if that many show
Oh, id is NuttyBanana, I joined the FXHome group last week.

Your added to the "In list". I to am in the UK so if it does end up being somewhere round about 7-9pm then I'll have to get a weekend set up.
As for the server idea, it's not a bad idea.

You know, of course I'm in.
I usually am in school till around 3ish EST, which would be what, 8 in the UK?
A weekend would probably be better, most likely a Saturday, for me, as I can be sure I won't have anything major to worry about. I will be pretty busy for the rest of January though, so I'll need to know in advance.

I'm in! Last time apparently the timing wasn't too great for our US friends, so let's make sure we pick a time that's good for everyone this time.
Also, we might be able to get some kind of dedicated server set up in the office for us to us - but I'm not sure. I'll talk to those in the know (malone and schwar) to see if it's possible.

Glad you've joined Tarn, I'll have a chat with you Tuesday Morning about timings and such and as for server creation, me and Nuttybanana spent a while trying to do it so If you want a test dummy I'll be glad to try joining in the server to test if it works.

I'll see if I can make it - recent involvement with local performing arts has kind of taken my schedule and beaten it across the head multiple times with a metal bat, but weekends are usually doable. I stay up late so don't worry about any UK time conflicts. I'm in the EST time zone, by the way.
I haven't been around for a while, so this should prove to be a fun way to get back into the community (again)!

Not to my knowledge, if FXhome can get a server running then I reckon we'll be in that one, but at the moment we might end up jumping into 24 player servers.

That time should work fine with me as well! Can't wait, I'm sure it'll be loads of fun!

Sounds good to me! We're going to investigate getting a server up and running over the next week.
Anybody happen to have TF2 dedicated server experience that could give us some tips?

I'm up for the multiplayer.
How do you create a dedicated server? I'm guessing you can't just install it on one's webhost, can you?
I *think* my ID is Fromez

Great! I got the Orange Box for Christmas, and Team Fortress 2 was way more entertaining than I ever hoped.
You can definitely add me to the list, my Steam Community nick is Erfa.

So do we have a private server?

I doubt we'll have time to set one up here, unfortunately.
I've also got an important meeting at 9 on Saturday, alas, so I won't be able to play for long.
But I'll be there for a bit at least - I want to hit evman with a spade.

uses their blunt weapon when they're a soldier? You're supposed to simply rocket-fire that hoe until you're forced to bid farewell and respawn.
Now a Scout with the baseball bat, that's another story....

A highly skilled soldier, that's who!
I should probably point out that I've never successfully killed someone with the shovel.

So I should be playing on Saturday on my new Macbook Pro running XP on Bootcamp (If all goes according to plan that is)... If not, I'll be on my suckatcular PC with a Graphics Card from the 1940s.
I'll be sure to backstab Tarn at least a few times before he can hit me with his shovel!

And I'll be sure to...kill everyone at least once. Two more days people! Don't forget on the day get some screenshots (F5) to prove you killed someone in the way you intended. Yeah...

Just a reminder - it's today!! Best bet is for everyone to pile into the FXhome chat on Steam (NOT the FXhome.com chat), and we can then figure out what we're doing.
Rather spiffily, Valve released a new map today, so we can give that a go!

Well the event was over. I had great fun and really think we need to sit and try and get a server going. Still I caught a few moments in the game so here's my screens. He just wouldn't die, not even after 5 axe stabsTarn being burned...well, he was late to the event. Consider his punishment done.Pookys Praying Mantis meditationer-no just randomly running around while Tarn goes commando on his teams asser-no never even used the shotgun throughout that match, just a baseball bat.
Well it was indeed good fun, sadly it was a bit of a short event and there were foriegners saying things which we didn't know if they were compliments or insults. We'll have to do this again sometime.

Well, it was fun while it lasted but although I did join 40 mins or so late, it was still a very short night.
But, just to show that a game was played in the time I blinked, please find the reason as to why I believe everyone quit early
The FX home guys did feel my wrath...
and no, Tarn didn't slip away either...
Hehe, thanks for arranging it Ben, hopefully next time guys stick around for longer. Was a bit of an anti climax but hope everyone enjoyed the time we played. Here's to next time. And please bear in mind guys you can't run head onto a Sentry gun

That was good fun! I shoulda got some screenshots. I built up my revenge on Tarn then actually got him with an axe!!!!
My weapon of choice was indeed the baseball bat. Quite a few kills
Good times. just wish we had our own server

Heh, nice pics Nutty.
Been hunting since last nights game and stumbled across this
Next time we get a game event going I'll think about throwing a few bob towards our own game server. I'm just hoping it'll be easy to set up once it's paid for.

Though short lived, it was still fun.
Shame I couldn't get any screens, as I was still on my old computer and it would explode if I tried that. I managed to get windows running on my macbook pro last night though, and now can finally appreciate amazing graphics.
