Hello,
My name is Ryan. I've searched everywhere in the forums, but couldn't find an answer to this question. I found some partial answers, but they only answered how to do the part of the effect that I already know how to do. Anyway, the effect that I am trying to achieve is in the object mask tutorial. It's the part after the transporter deres effect cuts holes in the actor, which is the part that I figured out. The part I can't get to work correctly is how to do the disappearance at the end, where the soldier vanished in a ray of light. I understand it has something to do with a Gleam composite, but I don't know which layer to place the gleam composite on. If it wouldn't be too much trouble, I would love a step by step explanation by one of the Fxhome staff of how I could achieve that really awesome effect. Thanks in advance, Ryan smile

I am in the same boat man. If you have found the answer please let me know as I'm in need of the FX right away to finish out a movie I'm editing.

Can you provide a link to the video you are talking about? I looked through the mask tutorial on the site and didn't see it, so a link would be great.

In the meantime, the good news is that the Gleam effect is fairly easy to use. Once you add it to your layer of choice, you can drag the control point which marks the center of the effect to wherever you like on the canvas, and adjust a few sliders to control the size and intensity of the rays it creates. And like any effect in VisionLab, those parameters are fully keyframeable for modifying the effect over time.

After seeing the video in question, I may be able to provide more specific info for the effect in question.

OK, that's actually the same tutorial I looked at previously, and having watched it again, I still don't see anywhere where the actor vanishes in a ray of light. It shows the actor with holes in him from the object mask, then it crossfades to a white title screen. Is that fade what you are asking about, or are you lopking for something else?

Incidentally, that particular effect (the transporter deres) is designed to remove the actor entirely bit by bit with the particle generator.
