Is this stock footage? I'm a bit baffled, but either way, you can never have too many clouds. Go for it!

I think it's a great idea, it'd be very useful for flying shots and the like. I'd certainly download it biggrin

Hey Link - it will be stock footage as soon as I'm done rendering it smile it's taking 51 hours for a 20 second clip at the moment - so I kinda wanted to guage interest before I made all that...

The Clouds I have now on my site are by far the most popular download and these just blow those clouds away - so I figured this might be a good contribution to the community smile

Very generous of you, that's a damn long time but I bet it's damn good quality. The previews look great, I'm one who voted "yes." +1

Thanks Serpent - Yeah it is a long time - I'm trying to play with some of the settings to shorten the time some... the full files will be 1280 X 720 resolution and that preview was the actual first frame of the animation (I did shrink the image size though for the website)

I may have to take over a few computers here at work this weekend for rendering wink hehe

Thanks for all the interest guys -

Here's a quick question for ya.... is anyone going to be crushed if I lower the resolution to 720 X 540(ntsc standard rez)?

I can shave 3 minutes a frame off the render and that would make a 20 second render 12 hours instead of 45 hours - which is a pretty significant difference smile and the clips will be standard resolution for most people

I have a 2 minute long render of some very slow moving clouds rendered out and I need to upload that today...

Rendering right now is the fast moving fly through - it's very slow going

Do you have a need for a particular animation? I can work on that one next - as I'm not really going in any order smile

GGB - No - I don't have a project going on right now. I have 1 and 1/2 more weeks of working two jobs and then I'm done with my second job. After this I hope to start a new project with a superman type of flying effect.
I only ask because after I read your initial post about it - I have checked back everyday and really like your work. I appreciate what you do for everyone, ecspecially hobbyist like myself.
Thanks for asking and responding to my earlier request.

Please give me some feedback - so if I need to change anything I can do so before i render out days and days worth of it wink lol

Before land was created there were many, many clouds... So many clouds... To many clouds. There were enough clouds you couldn't find anything to do with them. The fact is that there are too many clouds. Why are there so many clouds?

Good pack, it will defintally help those who can't make them.

GGB,
Looks amazing keep up the great work. I look forward to the rest.

If you are looking for feedback - may do another without so many clouds (may also save on renderiing time). It may be awkward to have other footage of a project with a clear sky and then go into a flying scene with complete cloud coverage.

Also, is it possible to fly "through" some of the clouds instead of a lever of clouds below and above? Since I have no idea how to do what you do I am just making suggestions.

Can you have it where you fly up through a cloud before you level off into the current cloud scene - as if you are taking off from the ground. And vice versa - go through the cuurent cloud scene and then down through the clouds as if coming in for a landing.

Again - thes are just suggestions - NOT COMPLAINTS - I marvel at your talent. Thank you for what you do!!!

Thanks for the feedback guys - That's a good idea and will make the cloud pack even more versatile - so I will render these animations out - then change the color - density and render out some more - probably come up with several cloud looks for different applications - thanks for the idea smile

and I've tried to think of every animation I could and this is the list I'm working on so far:

Flying Straight Fast
Flying Straight Slow - Done!
Following Straight Fast
Following Straight Slow - Done!
Flying Straight to Right Pan
Flying Straight to Left Pan
Following to Left Pan
Following to Right Pan
Flying with Slight Banks and Turns (Airplane)
Flying with Sharp Banks and Turns (Missile)
Flying Straight to Descent into Clouds
Assent From Clouds to Flying Straight

So those last two - is that what you mean Les?

GGB,
Yes - that's exactly what I mean. Just like from a first person point of view from Superman taking off or going in for a landing.

Another one that I thought of was during all of your previous idea list every now and then we should actually pass through a cloud for reality sake.

By the way - thanks for listening - you're creating a huge fan.

Good man yourself, Jamie aka GGB!

You did a great work and i´m looking forward to what will come.

but- i nearly started to cry, when i noticed that you uploaded the files in divx format, which is nearly unuseful for serious editing.

i know filesize does matter, but all your time for divx.
i guess, you´ve rendered them as a sequence. Converting to Quicktime motion jpeg is great and makes BBBIIIGGG files. But great.

Maybe there´s a way using a file hosting service.

Rated you 1+ and will surely buy you more than one beer.

Greetings

Klaus - Don't cry smile I still have all the original sequence files smile

and I'm willing to render out huge files - that's not a problem at all - but web transfer is smile

so if anyone's wanting the files on a DVD or such I can surely accomodate - just PM me and we can work out the shipping details...

I'm like "double post" man today or something LOL

Just posted another animation - the "Flying Around like an Airplane" one

I know there are some animation "glitches" where it makes a weird move - but I figured that maybe it just might work for some people and there's enough footage to start after the glitch too smile

Note: the last half of this one is flying at a lower altitude and the camera is flying through some clouds too

Check it out! wink

Hey guys - just a quick update - the cloud animations have been slow going because of actual work (can you believe I'm supposed to actually WORK? the nerve LOL) anyway - I rerendered the flying around to smooth out the turns...

I also changed my "model" a bit to more of a "detonation films" approach - some stuff for free and some for really cheap... just because all the free - huge - downloads were crunching my bandwidth... anyway here's a link and I'm updating this article as I get more done

I'm also using Quicktime and Photo-JPEG compression since I found that to be fairly standard around the "stock footage" sites...

http://www.geeksgonebad.com/Latest/In-Progress-Cloud-Pack.html

please give me some feedback on the whole thing if you would smile

Hey thanks spydurhank smile If you mess around with Vue at all I've got a tutorial and the "source" file for those up there too!

I haven't had a lot of time to make any new stuff - but I've been itching to make something and have a few days off coming up so I think I'll work something new out wink but with my many other hobbies (found HERE - http://www.jamiecunningham.name) we'll see haha
