New Line Cinema's reputation is becoming increasingly blackened, with an endless string of lawsuits all relating to the films that put it on the map in first place - The Lord of the Rings. Following Peter Jackson's very public falling out, recently fixed rather miraculously so that he could produce The Hobbit, word now comes that the Tolkien Estate itself is taking New Line to court over almost exactly the same issue - money.

Combined with producer Saul Zaentz's two lawsuits, also over disputed payments, and it would seem that New Line is indulging in some distinctly stingy activities. What this all means, annoyingly, is that The Hobbit is looking increasingly unlikely - with even likely director Guillermo Del Toro downplaying its chances of actually happening.

If that wasn't enough, looks like WB is now being sued by Fox regarding Watchmen:

How utterly silly.

it looks like im gonna have to make the hobbit myself then lol. Im getting really fed up with all these lawsuits, the tolkien estate has enough money why do they need more. all they're doing is upsetting fans by putting off the hobbit longer

Ug.

It seems like lately, everyone's suing everyone, and everyone's getting sued by everyone.
