New Line Cinema's reputation is becoming increasingly blackened, with an endless string of lawsuits all relating to the films that put it on the map in first place - The Lord of the Rings
. Following Peter Jackson's very public falling out, recently fixed rather miraculously so that he could produce The Hobbit
, word now comes that the Tolkien Estate itself is taking New Line to court over almost exactly the same issue - money.
Combined with producer Saul Zaentz's two lawsuits, also over disputed payments, and it would seem that New Line is indulging in some distinctly stingy activities. What this all means, annoyingly, is that The Hobbit
is looking increasingly unlikely - with even likely director Guillermo Del Toro downplaying its chances of actually happening
