Hey sollthar. Ordered it literally minutes after the news hit FXhome. Atlast.
Congrats and everything.

What happened to the english dub track?

Be excellent any way, but just slightly curious.

My, goodness... It's finally out!!! I loved the sneak peek, and it shows the exact reason why I want to buy it... (I'm ordering it later). The grading is perfection, the audio is crisp, and the overall thing? Priceless... wink

Is there any difference between this version and the "limited edition" that was available previously?

I think in today's DVD market a single language audio track, B class movie for $22.90 is a little pricey.

Thanks for the comments guys and thanks so much for the purchases! The english dubb track is on it's way to a japanese distributor, funny enough. This is the swiss DVD version which doesn't have an english audio track. I've no idea when any other DVD version will appear, if they even will. This is the one we use for our shop.

Glad you like it Spike! Your compliments are much appreciated!

I think it's too cheap myself, since the average DVD price in switzerland is 29,90 - and we don't sell the amounts a big selling DVD does, hence it's a "special interest" DVD. Plus it's got 8 hours worth of material. I don't set the price myself, the distributor does.

Local Stores here sell it for 42,90. smile

Yeah, it's ridiculously good value. Unless you only buy your DVDs on bargain-bin sales, I don't really get how you can say £11 UK pounds for a new DVD, packed full of great extras, is too expensive.

In the UK at least, I'd say that price is pretty much spot-on.

Hi there,

for me it's just 15,72€; usually you get a normal new DVD for at least 19,90€. So I think it's a pretty good deal! smile

$22 is literally the average price of major new release DVDs over here. Not a problem at all, although I do see what he's saying. As with all amateur or non-studio films people either understand it was made for nothing and will pay whatever just to see it, or they'll not understand the difference and expect quality in different areas that amateur stuff more often than not can't provide. (special effects, locations, etc.)

And then they want to get in a fuss over cost. Well, the price of this DVD isn't so cheap that it's comparable to a $50 (although to me it surely is worth that much for the opportunity to see it) but $22 is right on the mark of "fair" pricing.

Yeah. DVD prices aren't set regarding to how much the film cost though, they're set to a market price considering the quantity of DVD's in the market. The more units a product sells, the cheaper it usually is.

But anyways. The price is set as it is, I didn't make it. So at the end of the day, whoever feels uncomfortable buying the DVD for whatever reason simply shouldn't. It's a free world we live in. smile

Average DVDs here (at my end) are 12-20$ HDDVDs and Blu-Ray are 20+$. So it is a fair price for us in the U.S.

Oh yeah and I will buy this.

The price is actually cheaper thatn what I would expect to pay for a DVD here in Australia by around 30 cents (it's 29.69) razz

However, prices can be around $35 for new DVDs... But I'm cheap and I wait until they go into the bargain bin...

that looks great man. I couldn't really tell the difference between Hollywood stuff. I could really buy this plus you stock footage pack cause this looks cool. The only problem though is the Nightcast costume. I think you guys should have made it simpler because it looks to complicated thus not really super heroic. but that's miner. Since this movie has no ratings, does it have any hard core nudity or sex? Just asking?

I do have to say though there is one scene where one of the female characters are in the shower but she is very blurred out by the shower door. So no, there is no "hardcore nudity or sex" wink

Transplanted from our conversation, Sollthar:

I won't lie, I absolutely loved this. But not being a trailer or a full piece of work (more like a part of a scene or something, "outtake") I was left with being unable to give it a full rating of a 5. This isn't a straight-ticket thing I do, make no mistake, but the work didn't fit by itself, if you know what I mean. From there, little things took away from my vote to put it on a 3-4 borderline. (Namely the editing. For something so slick and solid there are one or two seemingly 'jump cuts' or errors that look somewhat preposterous. I'll get back to you on that later once I watch it again, if you'd like. It wasn't a big deal)

And finally, the icing on the cake was that: I'm an arrogant American elitist, I know, but the language not being English tipped me over to the 3. If I'm going to be honest about it. Although mostly this is because it made it hard for me to really understand how well the acting and some of the directing was executed. And secondly because it's more distracting than hearing something naturally to your native tongue.

Now maybe, just maybe, you can someday reach the level of professionalism and experience I'm at. Only then will you receive that 5-star rating. wink

That's just bizarre. Do you not tend to get subtitled foreign language films in the US? Do they all get dubbed, or are they simply not released?

I actually can't stand dubbed films. Subtitles is about all I'll watch.

And it's not that I don't see my share of foreign films, but it's undeniable that I see a far greater majority of English-speaking films than subtitled ones, simply because I don't purposefully watch a lot of foreign films (like many of the artsy types try to do) and that I'm a huge movie man and go to the theaters almost every weekend.

I don't see how it's terribly puzzling. Also considering the sheer dominance of American cinema and the fact that North America and more specifically all of the U.S. and parts of Canada universally speak English; as opposed to Europe where you can move from place to place the equivalent of one or two U.S. states and run into a multitude of different countries with different languages. And thus, you'd inevitably have a much larger number of foreign-language films to your area than us.

If that makes any sense.

Foreign films either get dubbed or hardly get a release at all, we're noticing that too. That's why we had to do a dub for that market. I've no idea though when it will be released. Will be a while I can assure.

Hehehe, there's no direct nudity Rodypolis. The "male nudity" shot in question is also in the ncc demoreel video here in the site. You don't really see anything.

Congratulations Solthar on getting your film released, most of us dream of doing this, your one of the few that has managed it.

I'm looking forward to seeing this once it arrives, am also glad it’s subtitled and not dubbed. When watching dubbed films the characters tend to loose a lot of the emotion that was put into the lines by the actors, which for me tends to ruin a film.

I wouldn't say that made you an arrogant elitist. More like an average arrogant docile American who can't handle subtitles. wink

The best film I've seen in ages was 'Låt den rätte komma in' (Let The Right One In'). I don't think film reviewers felt the need to downgrade their reviews just because it was in Swedish.

YMMV

P.S. This Nightcast stuff is just inspirational film-making for all us amateurs out there. A real achievement guys. 5/5.

Thanks a lot Jeppo!

Atom's stand appears to be quite common among the US, hence our distributor had a real tough time trying the get the DVD out without a proper english dub. Also the reason I put the film online in it's dubbed version despite the fact it's inferior to the original version imo.
