The main window comes up in an 800 x 600 size without anyway to size it. It appears that the FX Home application's main window cannot be maximized or sized. The usual controls are not in the upper right of the 'main' window and the window edges cannot be resized by dragging. I'm on Vista. Is this just the way it works?

The size can be set in the program's preferences.

Thanks. However, I have two monitors. Now that I've set it to 'full screen' it automatically goes to the wrong monitor with no apparent way to drag it to the correct monitor. How do I specify the montior?

It will open up on your "primary" monitor. You can change which monitor this is in Windows. Or you could use the "windowed" mode for EffectsLab, and in preferences change the default size from 800x600 to the res of your monitor.
