This is a short I made with my webcam - which explains the quality...

I made it to show that using a few lightbulb effects and some sparks, you can create that s fairly cool effect of a lightsaber melting through a wall, or a door, much like Qui Gonn Jin does in episode 1...

If people like the effectiveness of the effect, i will make a little tutorial on how to make it...

Looks good! The sparks look slightly cheesy though smile Cool stuff, nonetheless!

It doesn't have that same melting look like in the beginning of the Phantom Menace if you know what I'm talking about.

That looked good. But there was something missing...

One of the things that would make it look more like it was real, would be to add blocks of burning debris that could fall away.

To get that look, I think someone should take blocks of wood, make a fire (OUTSIDE), then carefully take one block when it's really hot. Take it and place it where it will fall down by itself. Do this a number of times and then create a plugin with multiple drop points.

I don't know how to create a plugin. confused

Another thing to add, would be a "molten lava" look to other bits of debris falling away. I'm sure that could be done in a 3d package or something.

yeah - if u look closely, i tried making bits of molten wall fall off with a few lightbulbs at one point, but still, it didn't look as good as it could if there were some plug-ins for it...
