The Watchmen adaptation continues to impress, with a first look at the costume designs of some of the main characters. While the original comic designs were fantastic, they were also somewhat day-glo. Watchmen's costume designers have managed to retain the look and feel while translating them into a 'real world' context. /Film also have a cool comparison that might be of interest to anyone that isn't familiar with the source material.

Ozymandias or Rorschach.

As I've said before (possibly to myself) I'm really looking forward to this movie !!

I actually really like Silk Spectre's outfit. It's the closest I've seen to a 'proper' superhero costume put up on screen. It's like a live action The Incredibles costume, yet somehow it works.

I love the look of the Comedian, as well. The costume and actor have a brilliant sense of sadism and unrestrained violence that fits the character perfectly.

Nite Owl is the biggest surprise, though, in that it was always a bit goofy-looking in the comic, and they've somehow managed to retain the style while making it kick ass.

Heh. How often do you get those, Waser?

I think Ozymanadias is the only one that falls into potential B&R silliness. Then again, I always thought his costume was pretty damn stupid in the comic as well - but the excess works well with his arrogance and general superiority.

It'll be interesting to see how much actual superheroing will be in the film, given that most of the comic has them lounging about in their day clothes. Hopefully Synder has the skills to capture that 'down to earth' feeling that is so vital to the recreation of an alternate New York, particularly with regard to the old guard and Hollis etc.

Watchmen is something that requires subtle styling. Hopefully Synder can restrain his rather wild 300 tendencies.

I don't really know anything about Watchmen, but I do know it's won a lot of awards, and Zack Snyder blew my mind when I watched 300 in an Imax.

Thus, I will see this with much haste.

Being one of about 4 people in the world who disliked 300, I have to say that I am thoroughly unenthused about this film. And to be completely honest, the costumes really don't interest me very much. Not sure exactly why, they just don't.

Also, while I haven't read the comic, I've heard a ton of good things about it, so I'm hoping this somehow turns out better than I think it will. unsure

I bought the graphic novel a week ago and haven't gotten around to reading it yet, but I hear good things.
