The FXhome team expands to a core group of seven people today, with the arrival of our new Operations Manager, Lucy Burton. We're very excited to introduce her to the community, not just because she brings a much-needed touch of femininity to the FXhome.com man-fest, but because she heralds a new direction for the company.
Over the past seven years we've created over a dozen products, which isn't bad for a company that until 2005 only had four employees, of which only two were coders. Since then Jack and Hendo have joined the team and we've branched out into new areas, such as PhotoKey, VideoWrap and the AE Plugins.
The problem with branching out, we find, is that everything gets a little bit complicated. Given that the only way is forwards, we knew we needed to find someone that could help to coordinate and organise all the different projects we're working on, ensuring that schedules are met and quality is maintained.
That person we found in Lucy, who brings with her a love of films and filmmaking as well as ten years of managerial experience in companies much larger than FXhome. It's a hugely exciting opportunity for us and we're really looking forward to working alongside her as our current and future projects come to fruition.
"I'm so pleased to be joining FXhome," says Lucy, "if I actually said what I thought, it would be embarrassing for everyone involved! I'm incredibly lucky to have a chance to do a job I love, for people I really like, working in an industry that has inspired me since I was 5 years old and saw Star Wars for the first time on Queens Street in Auckland. It doesn't get better than that."
As an added bonus, Lucy also happens to be an excellent make-up artist. We'll be throwing a spotlight on her make-up techniques in the near future, which should interest all you budding gore-mongers. Having worked on numerous British television productions in various capacities one of Lucy's first tasks will be to oversee the FXhome 2008 Film Project, which will soon have its shroud of secrecy lifted.
We're sure you'd like to join us in warmly welcoming Lucy to the FXhome community.
