Well, folks...
EDIT: Summer has passed and we've tackled quite a few projects, but not all I had hoped to. The great thing about college, however, is all the opportunities it opens up and people it allots you to meet; and that has made-way for the continuation of my perhaps over-amibitious plans...

Thinking you guys might be interested; in the order of proposed, tentative completion and release this is the list of planned and/or complete summer movies from yours truly and company-----Scratch that, all that paragraph. I have no idea the tentative releases.:

COMPLETED, AND NEVER GOING UP!- Sorry, it's the truth.

COMPLETED AND GOING UP VERY SOON!-I'm lazy as hell and have a movie pending release on here already, this one will come once Pages and Batman both have their due.

EXPECT LATER THIS FALL!-Sorry once again about this one, guys. Good things come to those who wait, though! smile

IN PRODUCTION!-Yep yep yep.

ABANDONED!-What can I say? We partied that weekend in Austin instead. smile But we also gave you guys Batman as an extra, so I don't feel that bad.

IN PREPRODUCTION, LOOKING FOR ACTORS AND GRIPS!-If you're in Austin, hook me up and come help out-everything and anyone is likely wanted.

POSTPONED UNTIL WINTER- Likely to be a reprise for Chase and Brian of their characters from Atomic's first real production, Hitman & Maletti. Users like Aculag might remember me passing out a few clips from it asking about the 'funnyness' of the comedy several years ago. This is going to be a reboot of that previous project, and we've got it planned out; which is good.

COMPLETED, IN THE CINEMA NOW!-Go check it out, it's number 1 in the Cinema Top Ten! (I know, I'm cocky. smile)

IN PRODUCTION!-With the script penned and me planning my trip to shoot this with our 'ol acting buddy Reese in Dallas, I've retooled and reworked 'Exodus' as best I can and renamed it 'Still Standing'. I'm excited about this one, the next immediate one on my plate.

And, essentially, that's about it on the agenda. You couple that with a few vacationing weekends/days and a handful of work weeks and you've got yourself a jam-packed schedule. Fingers-crossed we get through it all. smile

You've got me hyped to see these. Good luck on the projects that aren't finished/started yet.

Rather than vomiting 9 movies onto the FXhome cinema, thereby diluting your time, ability and work...why not promise the public to work on just one or two of them, to an extremely high level? Quality over Quantity yeah?

I'm not really interested in any of your ideas, besides the Rap one, because I feel confident they'll all make me feel roughly the same and all degenerate into the same argument about style versus story.

Everyone knows is possible to have too much of a good thing and despite my best intentions although I'll probably watch 2 or 3 of these, by the time the 9th is being released I won't give a toss.

Why not rock our faces with a singular piece of awesome cinema, rather than beating us all into a tired submission with an incessant barrage of work? Spent time making one great movie which everyone will remember and remember you by, and which you'll then be justified in hyping all you want before release?

I can't wait for any of them, esspecially Madison Street Boys. Exodus sounds pretty cool. It's also nice to see you guys throwing around different genres.

I'd like to note that though I'm heavily involved in most of the stuff listed, I don't agree with all the pretention in this thread. biggrin

Oh, and raise your hand if you think our group will be ten times worse off without their usual director/cinematographer.

OK. So are you involved or are you not? Because I'm really confused now. smile

My main advice to you guys would be to instantly dump 8 projects and focus on one. Once you've got one finished to a high quality, move onto the next one.

It's good to always have ideas bubbling around in the background, but having too many on the go at once is a risky bit of plate spinning. You could end up with lots of mediocre films or, even worse, a load of footage lying around that never quite gets finished.

Anyway, looking forward to whatever you guys come up with. The VideoWrap Wrap music video would be awesome - we actually considered proposing something similar ourselves at one point.

Madison Street Boys and Kingdom Come are ones I've directed. I lit Bruno and will be in Austin (that's where I'm headed for the summer, that's why I'm leaving later this week) for the 48 hour contest; another film I'll likely direct.

Sadly, as has been mentioned, I'm leaving Sunday to go to school in the summer (a major drag, but I have to do it) so the group will be without me for the rest of Madison Street Boys and the in-between things, like Exodus. I might fly back into town when we shoot The Escapist, though. The good news is that I'm in full-on UTAustin, not anything like community college for the summer, so (AFAIK) I'll have access to all the stuff in the film school.

Honestly, we're wrapped up in a big production (MSB) but we really like working on a bunch of different things to help us 'keep our edge', heh. The new music video I posted, the dolly test, the 2:30am skit- those are all things we enjoy doing quickly. While each of these small projects is a bit bigger than those 'tests', they aren't huge undertakings- something in the vein of The Woodsman as opposed to American Idiots 2, if you will.

EDIT:

About the VideoWrap! Rap, I've been meaning to do this for weeks. Mike actually got back to me with a .wav and some ideas, and I think after this year's 24 hour contest we have a better idea of how to shoot the music video. I want to try and get that one done before I leave. wink

Cool, I can't wait to see Madison Street Boys. I'm looking forward to seeing how it turns out when you guys make longer movie (it's feature-length, right?) and have more time to complete it.
Are you going to be releasing MSB in the cinema or selling it on DVD?

We're not certain yet, but we are hitting the festival circuit with it (a few events have already shown interest!) so whatever that entails we'll follow through with.

Wow these all sound pretty good, but I'm most defiantly looking forward to MSB the most. It looks awesome, and I'll defiantly will be buying it on DVD if you guys release it to DVD. These all look pretty good, but I agree that you guys should drop one or two of them just because, even though it's summer, you should put your best towards a selected few.

Well, guys, you also have to remember a portion of these are timed/competition things.

'Rob Murrow' is for the TimeFest competition, 'Action Farce!' is for the 48 Hour Austin, then there's the 48 Hour Dallas. After that, Bruno and Kingdom Come are already completed and MSB is on it's way to it.

'The Escapist' is my big summer project, primarily because I've fleshed it out more than the others and I'm excited to do it. After that, 'VideoWrap! Rap' is something we're trying to shoot this week and 'Exodus' is still vague and something I really just hope to get to.

But as for the others: most of them we won't surrender because they're part of competitions we've already decided to do. I understand throwing too much at once with dispersed quality instead of a single standout movie; but I'm still excited to try and build a breadth of work over the summer.

If you want to be a part of the 48 Hour Film Project Dallas with us (it's July 11-13th), we'd be happy to have you, Bryce. Past that, work on 'The Escapist' will probably (and hopefully) be underway late July too, if you're interested. Without Ben, I could use a good DP.

Good lord. That's like someone making 9 video games and sending them all to Blizzard and hoping they'll like one.

How so? I'm doing this all (with the exception of MSB) purely and completely for the fun of it.

And besides that, two are either completly finished and/or are finished and one is on it's way. Then another two will have to be made within 48 hours...

So no it's not-

Just FYI, three of these are done (Kingdom Come, Dallas 48 Hour "Pages", and Bruno) and two have been cancelled simply due to time and (mainly) money (TimeFest, Austin 48 Hour).

The rest, as far as I know, are still on their way.

Still standing behind your decision not to let Kingdom Come up? Besides the possibility that someone might enjoy watching it, not only for entertainment but also to watch you grow in film making, what can anyone say to give you enough confidence to put it online?

Nothing really, I'm afraid. And no, I've decided it won't go up. Yes, though, Thrawn. Madison Street Boys is still on the way.

No need to hijack Entourage titles for a disappointing film. I suggest titling something like "The Embarrassment" or "Post-Production: Impossible"
