I am trying to add cigarette smoke to a video of me shooting a gun - but whenever I add it It is only visible when the video is not. I am a beginner. Please help!

Do you have it in the right place on the timeline? You might have to move it over more to the left if your seeing the smoke and not the video.

yes i have it right after the gunshot but the smoke is invisible and now for some reason even without the video showing, the smoke is always invisible. I need smoke or another effect that will make it look like i just fired a rifle. I have the muzzle flash but i need something to make it more realistic - like smoke coming from the barrel of the rifle - which is what i was trying to do for the last 5 hours!(or 4 i lost count) confused confused confused confused confused confused confused confused confused

How are you creating the effect (particle effects engine, stock footage, etc)? Maybe if you could post a screenshot of your effects parameters (from the right side of the screen). It might help us find the problem.

For PC: press "Print Screen" on your keyboard. Then open MS paint and press Crtl+V to paste it. Save and upload to a image hosting site like www.photobucket.com

Moreover, you'll have to copy the IMG code into your post, not the other ones.

Is the video layer in front of the effects? Is the effect disabled on the timeline (is the button on the timeline red or green)?

Have you watched the video tutorials to familiarise yourself with the program?

He probably has the demo, and is working with the cigarette smoke preset that is included.
