All I know is how to do Lightsabers... everything else, I don't understand. The only reason I understand lightsabers is cause I saw a youtube tutorial. the FXHome tutorials didn't help. Also, I have the Demo version of vision lab. Can I have different replies each, with their explanation of a certain thing. For example: To do lasers... or To do explosions... or to do fire... etc.

Well, its easier to worry about it when you get visionlab but, for muzzle flashes, you place the effect where you want it in your video, you can go down to the scrubbing tool and click on emitter attributes and from there you can control Tween strength, size, color, and other charecteristics...Tween is how smooth it looks, so yyou can customize your flash and make sure you left click and select preview render because if you dont, it will struggle previewing. kk smile

My suggestion is to go through the video tutorials again, and make advantageous use of the pause button. Watch a small bit of the video, pause it, then repeat what it has shown you in the application. Maybe do it two or three times. Then go back to the video, watch another small portion, pause it, and familiarise yourself with doing that in the program.

It is extrememly doubtful that someone telling you how to do some particular effect, as a response in these forums, will be clearer than someone showing you how to do the same thing in a video. The video has the marked advantage of providing a visual of what the various controls and buttons look like, whereas a typed response may very well mention basic functions that a newcomer to the software is not yet familiar with (as demonstrated above with the scrubber tool).

I do not mean to imply in any way that you shouldn't ask for help on these forums. That is what they are here for, and there are a lot of people here that are happy to help. But asking how to do everything other than lightsabers is a bit extreme. There are over 130 pages in the manual, and that just touches on the very basics of 'everything else'; There could be pages and pages of responses to your question here, and it would still not cover as much as the video tutorials will in a couple hours. I recommend going through the video tutorials again, starting at the beginning ang going slowly. And then, when you run into a specific command or control that you are having problems with, ask a question about that specific issue here on the forums. The more specific your question is, the easier it is for other users to provide a quick, clear answer and get you progressing again in your learning process.

Can you provide a link to the youtube tutorial that you found helpful? That would also help the rest of us understand what methods work well for explaining these things to newcomers.
