I love this kind of stuff... But what are the chances that we'll ever get real prove of anything like this?

If it was real, it would probably be bigger news...

I don't think there's ANY chance that "real" proof of aliens AND bigfoot come only a couple months apart. wink

Yes-
but it says they have submitted the body for DNA testing and all that other stuff- so, even if it is a "known primate" It's at least terribly odd that these guys from Georgia would have that carcass- I mean if it is 7 feet tall, I don't know of any primates that are 7 feet tall except for humans. The reason it isn't "bigger news" is because it hasn't been "proven" yet- right now it's just a couple of yahoos with a monkey in their freezer- but once testing starts, who knows what they might find- is it a hoax? a known animal? or is it something new? I for one am curious at the very least, and very skeptical- but if it is real, well it would certainly explain a lot about the native american legends of sasquatch and the persistant stories of "bigfoot" that have come down over the past several hundred years in the US. Sometimes the simplest answer is actually true- people keep seeing these things because, well...they are real.

Some perspective:

Well, Bigfoot isn't exactly that far out of a concept, especially when compared to something like aliens. All it really would be is some kind of giant monkey type-thing, monkeys exist, gorillas exist, so why can't this exist? The thing that seems a bit odd is that if there's supposedly tons of them, including a lot of them living in this small forest (that's right next to the road), then why haven't they been discovered until now?

Well, sort of. Horses exist as do Rhinos but Unicorns don't. I understand what you're saying, though I am cynical regarding the realities of this find. As with the alien video - promises were made which were never seen through.

they are handing it in for dna analysis, so they are either very confident its real or amazingly dumb that they think science wont uncover their hoax. Either way i have this idea of scientists cutting it open on the autopsy table only to find its stuffed or a label on the back saying "Billy bobs fancy dress"

However i dont see what a dna analysis will prove if they dont actually have anything to compare it to

The government doesn't want us to see it. And if the "bigfoot" is real, we won't be hearing about it either. smile

Well, considering we have never actually had real proof of Bigfoots (except for sketchy videos), it's really hard to believe that they exist, especially because in all the years we've searched for it, we haven't even found a body. But I've been proven wrong before... I guess we'll see.

Well, they DO have something to compare it to- humans, apes, bears, cats, dogs- they will be able to tell if it is an "existing species" or a "newly known animal" and they will be able to tell if it is of the primate family or something else- it's not about whether they can say "Yep- DNA proves its a Sasquatch!" They can say "DNA proves that it isn't a gorilla or any other known primate-" Thus it is a "Sasquatch" by default only if humans decide to name the animal a "Sasquatch"- then subsequent animals discovered of this type would be "Sasqutch" becasue that's what humans decided to call this thing...if it really exists of course.

forgive me, what i meant was "we have bigfoot dna this recovered body has the same dna structure."

I know that scientists can break down the dna of any discovered living species and say this is from a cat, this is from a dog, but because the legendary bigfoot has never before been captured dead or alive then the dna wont actually prove anything. They will just say this is a new type of primate due to evolution or a genetic freak of nature

I think you completely missed what he was trying to say videofx. Basically they aren't trying to necessarily prove that it is bigfoot with DNA testing, they are trying to prove that this is not a gorilla. So if they do end up proving that it is not a gorilla, then you are absolutely right, they will say that this is a new type of primate due to evolution or a genetically enhanced freak of nature. wink and we as a society will subsequently call this genetically enhanced freak of nature "bigfoot"

The DNA results are in. Here is the link:

http://www.comcast.net/articles/news-general/20080815/NEWS-BIGFOOT-DC/

If you don't want to read the article, it says there were actually 2 seperate samples. After testing, they discovered that 1 is from a human, the other was 96% opossum - according to the article.

Bigfoot creatures are said to live in the forests of the U.S. Pacific Northwest. An opossum is a marsupial about the size of a house cat.
Hehe, the size of a house cat? last time I heard they were 7ft tall.[/quote]

So... I don't think I quite understand the results. They say it wasn't a bigfoot and that the DNA was human and something else. Was it an animal? Or a stuffed costume filled with DNA. The results really wasn't clear because if it is and animal(which is not know to man) then we could easily call it a big foot. Since no one has seen one anyways

The rednecks murdered someone, and stuffed him in a monkey suit. Human dna picked up and its human, sounds like a good CSI episode to me

Wow... putting a gorilla suit in a freezer and calling it Bigfoot? It's like a whole new level of stupidity. smile

Now seriously, has there been any news on that alien video?

My question is "why do this"? They didn't make any money, and all they did was waste time and ruin their own reputations. I mean, I guess I just can't figure out why you would bother with this.

Also, that alien puppet thing- the "making of" video was not made by the guy who claims to have taped the "real alien" they were both on Larry King- the guy that made the "how to" video was basically mocking the guy that took the "real video" - and he said that this is why he was hesitant to come forward because everytime you do, people start watering down the "real evidence" with a bunch of crap because of all the hoaxters out there. He said that he isn't "claiming that it was an alien" just that he saw something, taped it and can't explain it.

Also, I don't think that link you posted is the real video- he supposedly turned that in somewhere and it is still being analyzed.
