In Episode One of 'The Adventures of Shocky McZapalot' we explore the world of a man who each day must face the consequences of living in a dry house where static electricity runs rampant. When he uses his computer, watches TV or tries to do something as simple as talk on the phone he is constantly forced to deal with the relentless nature of the "Pure Energy" known as static electricity.

I'll comment and vote even if no-one else does.

bttf joke was funny, good ideas in the film, good uses of fx.
seemed to drag a little in places.

well done,
here is my vote. 3

lol good stuff. I especially liked the piano scene, how you panned out from that statue. And the bathroom part, with the 'zap' under neath. Great job! Hope to see more from you. cool

HA! Thanks for pointing out the BTTF reference. smile In addition to that, there is also a really obscure reference in this movie to a show that recently completed a long run. I will be amazed if anyone figures it out. smile

Yeah, I know. I just voted on a bunch of movies. I've been more of a lurker here then a contributer up until now. You know, I spend a lot of time working on my movies. smile But I plan to contribute more in the future.

I don't know if anybody kept watching this movie past the end credits. There is a funny little outtake at the end. Well, at least it is funny to me and my friend when we were filming it. smile If you go to my website there is a larger outtake video to watch.

Yep! smile A BTTF movie isn't out of the question. Unfortunately with the acting skills of the people I know (including myself) it might be a little adventurous. smile But those movies are great.

Meh, I watched in like 50 times and didn't see anything. Your shirt had something about a race on it I think , is that it? razz

HA! 50 times! smile Like I said, it's "really obscure". In fact, now that you said you watched it 50 times it might be a let down telling you what it is but here goes... It's in the scene where he's typing an email on his computer. The time is "11:21". The significance of this time is that it is the time that you see displayed (usually) when a clock is shown in the X-Files series. The reason for that is 11/21 (November 21st) is the birthday of Chris Carter's wife. Chris Carter is the creator of X-Files. Anyway, as you can see, "really obscure". The BTTF reference was way more obvious. smile

Sorry you watched it 50 times. LOL!

That was basically the response I was expecting. biggrin

Also, one other thing I'd like to point out about that same scene is the computer monitor. When I filmed that, his monitor was turned off. I had to add the email (it's actually www.hotmail.com) screen later. smile

Does anyone have any ideas they'd like to share for Episode Two? We have some ideas floating around and I've written down a few scenes that I think we will go with. The idea in Episode Two is to actually try to have more of a story instead of just random scenes. We already have the "big idea" and don't want to reveal it. But I'm thinking that some input from the community might be good as well. So, any ideas would be great.

One thing I will say is that the production value in Episode Two will blow away Episode One. This includes the camera angles, music score, lighting, location and so on.

I put together a quick promo video for Episode Two of The Adventures of Shocky McZapalot. It's a spoof of the 'News On The March' segment from the movie Citizen Kane. It's really got nothing to do with what Episode Two is going to be about, however. biggrin Also, I can't post it in the AlamDV Cinema since it doesn't use any AlamDV effects. razz

Check it out if you like...

I liked the old film look (I'm guessing certain bits were culled from Citizen Kane itself and perhaps other archival footage). But overall I thought the flickering looked very authentic!

Thanks

Actually, all the footage used is stock color DV footage that I have. None of the footage actually came from Citizen Kane. However, the audio clip "News On The March" with the little song after it is from the movie. The second song is actually a CD quality song that I used but had to apply a bunch of filters to it in order to make it sound like it was playing out of a telephone to match the first audio clip's sound quality.

This movie HAS to be in the genre of Stupid funny. You know, like the movie, crazy Dumb and Dumber. I know most of you guys are Canadian, but maybe you heard of Jim Carry. That's right, he's from Canada. biggrin

So, it was funny, I laughed. My sis said, "That's stupid," but I laughed in her face. I like the part when he dies, or gets shock and then says, "Pure Energy." HA! I loved that part especially with the stupid-funny looking face on it.

What? Why I gave it one star? Why not give it 0 stars? Well, it was a little funny, but, stupid funny is not that good. I mean, in America, we get them alot now, with American Pie 1/2, Undercover Brother, Not Another Teen Movie, and more, I grow tired of Stupid funny. I guess I was biased when I voted. Overall, okay... but I await for your next, stupid-funny movie.

I'm not saying that Stupid-funny isn't funny or good, but... uh... you know what I mean. tard crazy

Stupid funny is the best genre to do when you have people that aren't natural born actors. smile However, this was a first attempt. I have grand plans for the future. Whether these plans see the light of day is another thing.

Is that you, the guy who keeps getting shocked?

There is a second episode in the works. However, only a small portion of the footage has been shot so far. Probably won't be until the summer. Hopefully

BTW, glad you liked it. smile

I lol'd. Pure Energy... The effects were nice, though they looked a tiny bit pasted. And the bathroom scene was funny. 4/5.
