In this dramatic, futuristic, sci-fi feature film, aliens from Jupiter invade planet Earth right under the noses of the satellites. The United States President dispatches a special task force to take out the leaders, but it may be too late... This is part 1 of 2. Enjoy the movie and look for part 2 coming soon!

Quick hint i've learned, and i am no expert, make your explosions "Flow better" by putting a mask over it. This also gives the video an original look.

I think, you need to spend a bit longer on your effects, and I would like to give you some advice, for the car scene, you just had onelong continuous shot of the car and (obviuously going slow, I appreciate that) but to quicken it up maybe speed the the video of the car and keep the camera work as steady and as slow moving as you can i.e paning left and right slowly. And also include different shots, like one from the front and one of the car going past etc, speed them up and make quick changes between shots. You will find that it is a bit more exciting for the viewer.
You will obviously not get it right first time, but play around in editing and take your time.

eek

......

I'm afraid Plan 9 From Outer Space has been dethroned as the worst alien-invasion movie ever made.

Sorry.

Might I recommend giving this a read?

I gave part 2 a view before I commented on this one. I'm really sorry guys, this was poorly done. Aside from the technical issues such as poor camera work, lighting, visual effects, and the lack of audio mixing, you just seemed to use 1 take of every shot. People messed up their lines and looked at the camera, come on. You squeezed 1 star out of me for the sheer fact that you finished this project. I appreciate follow through.

Heh, erm... Well... I remember you coming in this forums offering "professional" work... And in your profile, you call your skills "professional" too... And now this.

Therefore, I'll be honestly blunt: This was terrible, in pretty much all ways.

Camerawork was random with no understanding of basic techniques, soundwork was almost nonexistant, acting... let's not go there, editing was sloppy and lazy, effects were terrible and the storytelling techniques left a lot to be desired - to say the least.

I suggest you do some serious reading into "basic filmmaking 101" because, while this might have been good fun I'm sure, you are far away from being anywhere yet. The fact that you call yourself "professional" is just ... well. Or maybe it is your sense of humour, I don't know.
Get some books about filmmaking and learn the basics. Watch films and look closely how they are made. For starters, I suggest you read my filmmaking guide here http://fxhome.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=27135

Obviously, I have zero interest in seeing part 2. If you don't put some time and research into your filmmaking techniques to improve A LOT, then honestly, don't expect your audience to sit and stay through this.

Right, sorry for the honesty. But your entrance, profile self-image and this work gave me little choice then to phrase myself less diplomatic. Good luck with your next effort.

Is this intentionally really really bad? If so, you won.

It's a sad day in the cinema top ten when the #1 movie has an average rating of 1/5 stars. I'll have to check this out nonetheless and get back to you with a review on it.

Why? I mean - really? I'm hoping to God that this was supposed to be bad. Although, this makes Ed Wood look like Spielberg. I don't like to be mean so I'll leave that up to the others.

I laughed out loud multiple times throughout. Excellent work on making it feel authentically "Unintentionally funny".

Same. And dear god, this is #1 in the Top Ten. I guess I'll just have to change that, although being number one amongst two or three movies will be no fun. smile

Heh, good luck at changing that anytime soon: there haven't been any movies reviewed by FXhome to get into the cinema in weeks. smile (they must be pretty busy.)

Hopefully we'll have a new movie in too... that is, if can ever fix our sound problem.

Well... Time for some constructive criticism... I think Sollthar completely mentioned everything but one - your style is a great reminder of "Be Kind ReWind"... Different, but some people actually buy it...

I liked the scene with the drunk driver cruising in his neighborhood while magical muzzle flashes appeared out of thin air. The SmashMouth music fit in perfectly too.

This movie was clearly made by a "Professional" filmmaker.

Because it's been one of the only "new" movies in the Cinema for a while now. The Cinema hasn't been updated with new "good" films in awhile... the fxhome team must be busy or something.
