Hello all. This is probably something simple -- hoping someone out there can help.

When i create a mask in Visionlab to surround an object or actor to help create a more realistic explosion, laser blast, etc. How do I "turn it off"..? I can create it OK and get the effect i'm looking for. But then my footage may switch to a different scene, but yet the mask remains on the screen and would then be out of place.

I've tried just clicking the button that turns it from green to red to turn it off - but when i do that then the mask effects for the previous frames (that i wanted to be there) disappear too. I wasn't sure if i needed a keyframe at the point where i want the mask to go away - or if there was some other method.

Any/ all responses would be appreciated.. Thank you all..

well...

Quick method is to simply move the mask out of frame.

I tend to slice the movie/effect, "object", and then delete the mask from the new object.

I hope that helps a bit...
