Hi all. i have done this before, but i for the life of me can't remember how to do it.

i have a person, who i want to create a mask around their body, then animate teh mask so i can just export her movements. the problem i am having is, the mask i create goes around her body, but her right hand is close to her hip, which creates a triangle type gap. i also want to mask out this triangle, and i can't remember how i did it. when i creat teh rest of the mask, the triangle is covered when i hit animate.

also, i can't find the origional project file to see what i did sad

any help would really be great.

Create a second mask for the triangle bit, and reverse the mask, or invert it, I can't recall exatly how its labeled. But you can reverse it so the mask either removes what is behind it, or retains what is behind it, depending on your needs.

It sounds like you could use a greenscreen.

tracking masks.

is there a way to create a mask around a person/object, and have that mask track that person/objects movements? instead of moving the mask for every frame that you need to?

It would require very advanced software and high quality footage.

You certainly can't do it in VL. As for now that is wink

... Unless you have a single coloured background, in which case you might want to play with keying capabilities of VL. Though it is a longshot.

That's where you want to use a greenscreen, which will indeed eliminate the need for frame-by-frame adjustment of the mask. But for a hand-drawn mask, there is unfortunately no way to track it.

i had it the other night but i forgot how i did it lol!!

ok so i have a empty plate shot, then a shot with the actor in on top on that, then i select mask and the mask is there for the entire duration of the clip when i only want it for the last 2 secs, any way of doing this please?
