Well. I spent the entire day working with with Apple's WORST PROGRAM!! No, not the OS! I'm talking iDVD!! But the Twisted Studios DVD it now out, with every TS movie on it (to date).

It has all the classics! All of them! Like, metal gear redux? But all of it's in full, spectaular quality, with digitally-enhanced video (shot in miniDV). Plus it has lots of cool secret crap on it. And it has shogun showdown, and the first 7-minute EPIC TS movie, Star Wars: The Alabine Armor! It's cool! Plus it has all the old fool school crap and everything!

I'm not sure why I'm telling everyone this, but if you want a DVD with cool fire and explosions (i put 'em in the menus too!) email me! But you have to send me a blank 60min DVD too!! It can also be used as an AlamDV promotional DVD! *wink wink* Because every movie (except the star wars one, but the effects SHOULD of been done in alam, cause we used photoshop to insert white lines w/ outer glows as the lightsabers and lasers etc etc etc instead!! what a waste of time!) has alam effects!

PS: iDVD sucks, but this DVD looks cool cause i added those debris explosions and those generic flame plugins everywhere! and it has a cool sound track! sidewinder says those flame plugins are used in DOA3! that means that they're professional plugins! ooooh!

crazy crazy crazy crazy crazy crazy crazy ????

Interesting... maybe you should sell it on ebay. Those suckers will buy anything smile

iDVD = crap = mechaforce

j/k. Nah, i would dump iDVD and try to find some other dvd-maker program. I tried out iDVD, and it takes forever to make anything that doesn't look REALLY amateur. DVD studio Pro is only 999 dollars more smile

peer to peer*

lol. It's basically file trading. It's illegal if you trade stolen copies of software that you don't own, so i don't really recommend it. If you want to investigate it further, download Neo, limewire, or Acqusition. They are all decent file trading programs. He got Studio Pro off limewire, a peer to peer program.

<in a knowing tone> Ah! I see…

I might just check that out. Purely out of vague interest, you understand. Piracy is bad.

But poverty is worse!

Thanks av11d.

I had a look into Limewire et al.

It look interesting but I can't find much info answering the idiot questions such as HOW, EXACTLY, DOES IT WORK?

So how about it Mecha', av11d? Could you explain HOW, EXACTLY? And if you could talk to me like I'm an idiot 'cos I know nothing about this.

And what about that spying software that I've heard is embedded in the free versions? I don't like the sound of that. Is it worth getting the 'Pro' version?

I'd sure appreaciate your help.

Limewire is basically a client which allows you to download files from servers. It comes installed with a few default servers that you can download from, however, you can add more if you want. The thing that limewire does is it searches the servers for certain keywords/file extensions and shows you them, and then you can download them from that server. eek

i think

Actually the p2p bit kinda implies that everyone is equal, everyone is a server and a client. You have to make a connection to one server to start with (which is why all this p2p stuff isnt proper p2p but dont get me started on that) and that gets you on the network. Then you can trade files on your computer with files on other peoples computers that are on the network too. Think napster but harder to shut down

A lot of these file sharing programs have had spyware so they can sell the data to marketing companies and make money, they dont really care if you've just downloaded a 2 hour long avi of someone eating cake. But dont bother registering these sharing apps, theres plenty of free ones that do a much better job.

Oh btw, Id like a TS DVD!!! that'd be coolio

If your using Mac OS X, get Acqusition or Neo! No spyware, both great interfaces, and totally free. You really only find spyware from p2p (peer to peer) programs on the PC, so don't worry about it too much if you are on a mac.

I recommend Neo if this is your first expierence with P2P. The interface is very clean and straight forward: A search window where you search for files, and a Tools window where you can see what you are downloading, which hosts you are connected to, a console log, and a tab that allows you to search the internet for other Neo clients (kazaa clients as well).

Limewire is probably the p2p client with the most files you can download. The interface is crappy, and the software is slow (all java), so I only recommend it is a last resort.

You can download p2p programs through a search at www.versiontracker.com

Enjoy the files! lbiggrin

What a great bunch of replies!
Thanks a bunch, fellers. That was exactly the info I was looking for!

One last question, though (promise). What about viruses? If you are accessing other peoples computers couldn’t you get zapped quite fiercely? I have only one computer (and am in the middle of a editing project) so am a bit worried about that. I have System Works if that helps.

About OS: ‘Fraid not av11d. OS 9.2.2 sad Whats the best app for this OS? Limewire Pro?

Mecha’, sorry for cluttering up your string. Perhaps a Moderator could put this P2P stuff in its own string? smile

Well, you won't be getting "zapped." The only possible way you can get a virus is by downloading a file. So, it's always good to have antivirus on when you are downloading/starting the downloaded file the first time. Look for odd file sizes (ex. a file that claims to be a movie but is only 15kb big), those might be viruses. If you have important data, it's probably best not do download any files.

The best p2p app for OS 9 is probably Limewire. Don't bother buying it, just use the free version.
