I am making an Indiana Jones film and I don't know how to make an effective transition.

A cut is usually the most effective transition (98% of the time).

If you can provide more info about what you are transitioning from/to it might prove helpful. Also, if you are talking about a transition fom one video clip to another, its best to do those in your video editor, not in EffectsLab. EffectsLab isn't set up for video editing.
