I know it's a little bit early to have this thread up, but Christmas is my favorite holiday and I'm already thinking of what to put on my wish list. wink Ben and Adam, as I know you guys are the ones who originally started this annual thread, just tell me if you want me to have it deleted. I just couldn't resist. smile So FXHomers, what's gonna be in Santa's bag for you this year?

Rather than wishing for things to own (hey man, your things own you!), can I wish for more abstract stuff?

Can Santa bring me more and exciting growth for my company in 2009, enough work that I can subcontract more of it out? Can my documentary pitches excite the terrestrials, can my features get easy finance, can I production manage (and be ready to production manage) an Arena gig (stadium ones in 2010), can I find the right way to satisfy my radical lobbying soul, can I inspire someone to go on and do something great? Dear Santa, that's all got to be easier than just spending cash in this recession? Please?

If it's all about things and toys, how about an OB truck? See Santa, the first list is easier wink

Unfortunately I think Santa's bag is going to be pretty small this year do to what pdrg already mentioned.

The only thing that I would really like to have this christmas is Guitar Hero: World Tour and the Rock Band 2 game disc. I wouldn't mind some new clothes either.

World peace... no wait that's the Miss World competition.

<rant> For Christmas the one thing I'd like is for my actors to respond to invitations that I've sent them so I know whether they can make a shoot date or not. Seriously it takes two seconds to respond to a Facebook invite. </rant>

And if Santa can't get me that, then a rifle please.

...And if it's not too much to ask I would like to throw in FXHome Composite Lab Pro and a new digital camera (my old one is pretty slow).

Even though I was just about to make this thread once again, I might as well pass the torch onto you, film freak; as I've found it harder and harder to make time for FXHome these days. Sadly something I need to come to terms with. Heh. Oh, and it's Andrew, not Adam. Adams would be our last name, buddy. wink

Oh yeah, and I'd love to write a highly-detailed list with price-ranges galore on here like I do every year, (I never get any of it, but it's always fun to write out- especially because my birthday is only three days after Christmas.) but the truth is I really only want/need one thing and so does Ben-

A new camera for shooting and a new computer for editing. I know neither are a possibility right now for us, so that's a bummer, but whatever. College is a b!tch on the day-to-day expenses (although I always try to find time and money to see movies smile)- so yeah, CASH MONEY is what I really need this coming season.

Anyone who feels obliged to help my cause, feel free to paypal me. biggrin

- Money to pay for college
- Money to pay fraternity dues
- New camera (XL2, HVX, XH-A1)

I'm not saying that I'm entitled to any of these things, but, realistically, I feel due for a good college experience after all those APs in highschool, and a new camera after exhausting the image out of the one I have now. It's a bit of a sign when I was the first in my crew to get started filmmaking, and yet now everyone individual from my crew has an XH-A1. Kinda makes me mad, you know, but whatever. Live and let live.

I hear you on that. I'm saving up for the XH-a1. I was going to get the HV30, but I'm going to start making short films more often, I should just get a prosumer camera.

2000 years from now, Ben & Atom's GL2 will be the center of great controversy because Dan Brown's new book said it once had an affair with a tripod named Charlotte, and theologians will argue that the GL2 was never molested by even the cleanest of tripod mounting screws. It's holiness will remain in doubt for a few years at least, until Ron Howard makes a movie about it and it tanks at the box office.

For all of our sakes.

And yes, on second thought, I'd love nothing more than (to borrow a phrase from Waser) - CASH MONEY MONEY! College in general means having no spending money, but NYC prices are just ridiculous. I paid $13.50 with tax for my ticket to the midnight showing of Quantum of Solace on Thursday night... Grrrrr....

Just cash and maybe a few DVDs. That's seriously it.

So Ben & Andrew, what camera(s) do you actually own then?

I assume the XH A1 you list on your film-making info is borrowed as with the other gear you use. I am just curious as to what gear you guys actually own as I see you with a lot of stuff around the forums, I just wondered how much of it was actually yours.

What's the dealio guys? If you don't mind me asking.

Kinda' thread hijacking, but oh well, shoot me. biggrin

No problem, Adman.

Ben and I, on our own have the ownership of a Rode NTG2, basically all the lighting we generally use, a Canon GL2 (which we have and continue to use most- predominantly to make movies), and the rest of our crew collectively has 3 Canon XH-A1s, an XL2, and 2 additional GL2s. This all, if course, didn't happen over midnight- it took several years to build-up. We don't really "borrow" stuff from anyone as our crew itself, not just me and Ben, is pretty tight-knit and has a stake in each movie.

Nice, good to know. I have recently had a mild obsession with film kit as I am attempting to replenish my list of film-making gear and I was curious what you two owned/had access to between you.
I am hoping that one day my crew will have enough passion for what we do to buy some gear themselves, on that day I shall be a happier Adman with a heavier wallet .

Thanks Andrew

Aim higher my friend! Get to the stage where you get real crew in, and where you hire the kit you need when you need it! That's what Panavision is for!!!

Ugh its the same here. Nothings worse then spending time and money on a movie that your friends don't appreciate. Thats why im trying to take my new one to a higher level. I hate it when everyone says "Oh yeah, Ill act" and when it comes to acting, they get embarrassed and dont.

Enough of the rants!
-Adobe CS4 Student version
-Tripod better then my awful $50 Target one
-HV30 35mm Adaptor
-Hopefully an MG42 airsoft gun (if china would hurry up and release it!!!)

I don't need any of them, but sure want 'em! All I want, (and expect) is one.

Theres a lot of them for me lol, I really just want a decent camera to get started out with, and a electric guitar and amp... okay and a car, and new computer and laptop. If i didn't get anything I wouldn't care, to me the gifts and giving is not what Christmas is about.
