help with masking

lets say that i had an angle to where i wanted the eye color of someones face to change and nothing else. is there a masking method to where i could apply an affect and mask around the eyes rather than over?

you could use a grading object to change the color and then mask out the area where the eye is.

yeah just use a circle mask and invert it around the eye. you can then animate the mask as in re-size and move it around to fit your footage or you can use a free hand mask for more detailed work. but do what Darth Stazz said and use a grade object. place it above your footage on the time line and use the mask on the grade object after you get the color you want that way the mask will only affect the grade object and not the footage.
