I just bought PhotoKey 1 a couple weeks ago and now I notice that PhotoKey 2 is out. Do you have an upgrade offer for users of PhotoKey 1?

The link is for an upgrade that costs €79. Is there no free upgrade for buyers that bought in the last few weeks? I certainly wouldn't have bought v.1 if I had known there was a new version about to be released. To add insult to injury, FXHome are now offering a bundle for less than I paid for the product on it's own two weeks ago. Not a good way to treat customers.

I can definitely understand your frustration, as it has come up before. Not just with fxhome, but this issue is always sure to arrive in the software world.

On the other hand, let's say that fxhome announced a month ago that Photokey2 was coming out. People who had bought Photokey1 a month and 1 day ago would be mad that they would have to upgrade and that they wouldn't of bought Photokey1 if they knew they only had to wait a month for the new product.

It then becomes quite a quandary for fxhome as to when to release a new upgraded version and also therefore, when to announce you are going to do so.

I've been a member here for over 6 1/2 years and while as a consumer you may have that aww damn feeling sometimes, I believe the crew here has been more than fair. I've also been here long enough to know when an xmas deal or two might be coming around, so I saved some cash on Videowrap.

Sorry you're probably feeling a little bit slighted but I don't think there's anyway this was intended to hurt the earlier adopters of Photokey.

EDIT: Also vinnie, it looks as if you bought Photokey batch, not v1 of photokey. I may be mistaken, but it looks like that's the case from your product pics.

While I understand upgrades, I also know most companies have a grandfather period for recent customers. For example, I recently purchased 6 copies of Adobe Creative Suite CS3. Within a week they announced CS4. I called the company and they assured me I was going to get the new software at no charge. I registered the product online and called their technical support line, they immediately entered the order and the new product is due to arrive Tuesday.

If a company does not want to pre-announce, they should stop shipping or make some type of compensation. In my case, I owned version 1 for 13 days. Of course I haven't used it to generate any sales, I was just getting used to it. Now I plop down another $50.00, so really the package cost $150.00. I do think the upgrade price is reasonable, but like others, I would have waited on version 2 if I would have known it was coming.

Thanks -- Kelly

Have you emailed the company explaining your situation?

I just emailed the company about the very same situation. Only difference is that I purchased the software 3 days ago.

You're right...I stand corrected smile I didn't realised that the batch version hadn't been updated. Having said that, I still think there should be an option for recent purchasers to avail of a free upgrade. This is a fairly widespread practice as far as I can see from any previous software purchases I've made.

FXhomer116123 - Until you register version 1, the upgrade price won't show up, as you have nothing to upgrade from.

To see the upgrade price, you will either have to register the software to your account, if you haven't already, or else log in with the account the software is registered to.
