Should I use standard HDV, 30p or 24p cinema setting? I just did a test with my sons Christmas present a WowWe TriBot in HDV mode on a 4'x8'platform and wall all greenscreened. It's in render right now but I will post the clip on myspace.com/angelspeaksproductions later today. Yeah I know it's a gift but I had to make sure it works Ha! I put him on Mars (hi rez Spirit Rover jpeg) I added Dust Storm effect behind and in front of Robot. Let me know what you think. But I just wanted to know the best way to shoot these scenes for greenscreen.

I didn't see the video yet, but hdv 24p and hdv 30p are options. 24P and 30P aren't different options from HDV.

The option you really want to look into is what setting you have it at..ie, shutter priority, or cinemode or auto. You want the brightest picture with the least amount of grain, so do some tests and see what feels right.

Might be an export problem. I'm not sure, I've never posted a myspace video before.

HDV 25p (in uk). Don't trust the 'auto' mode too much - we have found it gets confused sometimes. Remember to white balance before shooting.

Then do some tests - a long as you hae a well lit subject, you should get good video.

I read that the cinemode is good to use because it turns off the edge enhancement.

Also, the progressive modes will likely do better since you won't have to deal with interlacing artifacts.

Not sure if the motion blur will be an issue at all - you can adjust the shutter speed while in cinemode.

Bear in mind the 24p and 30p modes are not "true" progressive modes - the 24p and 30p frames are buried in a 60i stream, and not all software knows how to handle this.

I'm not sure what the progressive mode means (I just got the HV30). I use Final Cut Pro 5.1.4 it should be able to deal with it as long as I set FCP correctly before importing.

Yes, it will. Its best not to post this sort of question in an existing topic though, especially one that is dealing with a different subject, such as this one. In the future, start a new topic if you can't find one dealing with your specific question. Thanks.
