Dude I'm freaking jealous but only a little. Was it good. I'm still waiting on my copy. it's been a little over a week. it may take a while since I'm in the states so I've been sitting and waiting by the front door looking for any sign of the mail man. I feel like a rabid dog and I just might attack the poor postal worker. maybe it'll show up today? tard I hope so but if it doesn't then I suppose I'll wait a bit longer then. Ha.

Glad you're liking the DVD! I took a different approach with it compared to the old ones on thet website, so it's good to hear that it's working out for people.

So which do you prefer? The beach landing sequence or the superhero sequence? smile

yeah they are both great!!
super hero one has more effects that you actually see, i mean more impressive to the viewer but the beach one is more complex and technical and i showed my Dad then told him it was all one guy and he didn't believe me lol!!

both awesome though and i leant a lot!! plus Ads is the blue mutant lol!

Right Badmonk? I showed both clips to my twin brother and a buddy of mine. when I told them that all the soldiers in the beach scene where actually only 1 guy, "Bless him for doing all of that running" they didn't believe me till they saw how it was done. these guys did an amazing job with the whole project and now the rest of us are a tad bit wiser for it, so thanks to the FX Home team and anyone involved. I hope that you guys make a feature film because it will be awesome and I hope that I have the honer of sitting down with some buds and eating some popcorn while we watch your flick!!! biggrin

i hope i didnt come across as not liking the beach video, i loved both of them, its just that for the layman, they would prob be more impressed with the super hero video as its got bamfing, flight, phasing though solid objects etc etc

the beach one for the layman who didnt know how it was put together, well people just think they had loads of guys, props, blank firing weapons, squib hits and mortars etc smile
of course for us in the know, its an amazing achievement how they did it!

anyone see the omaha beach one on youtube as well please?

Yeah, the superhero one has much more obvious special effects. The two sequences are quite good at showing the two different 'types' of effect - the sort that you will always notice, and the sort that hopefully you won't notice at all.

Hehe, that's the best compliment you could give, really! smile

I think probably my favourite effects in the beach sequence are the ships in the background. Although they're not historically accurate (oops), they're also quite subtle and don't draw attention to themselves.

Yeah, that one is fantastic! I'd love to have tried some big epic shots like that, but we didn't have the time, alas. They also made some great use of imaginative composites, with the cliff-climbing bits. Maybe next time! smile
