Multiple effects following a single path?

Hey, everyone. Is there a way to have multiple effects follow a single path? For instance, I have an effect that is supposed to move on top of another effect in a different layer. Is there a way for me to link the two, so I don't have to tween this second effect manually?

Copy and paste the animation keyframes from one effect to the other. Depending on the type of effects involved and which animation controls you used, this won't always work, but often it will do the trick.

Hmm, that sounds a little TOO easy, but what the heck? I'll give it a shot!

Nope, I can't get it to work. I tried copying it, but it won't let me. One of the effects is an optic, while the other is a particle effect. I just want the particle effect to tween along with the optic. Is there any way to link the two of them without tweening the entire thing all over again?

try placing a "key frame" on each object that matches the other objects place on the canvas. this seemed to work for me.
