line emitter for the lightning engine?

i had a cool idea for the lightning engine. you could draw a line on your footage (for instance) a telephone pole with it's droopy wires, then you start by making a begin point at the start of the wires and click ploints on the wire every few "feet" down the wires and end with an end point.
Basicly you could draw a line with several points and the lighting would stay on that path. I dont know, tell me waht you think

Yeah, that'd be awesome. I have no idea how hard that would be for the programmers to put in, but that sounds like an incredibly cool and useful tool.
