Ha. Ha.

The wheel is basically a giant ipod clicker! What a pain in the a-- to use! How the heck are you supposed to type anything with this? Another swell idea from apple...

I would prefer a joystick cool It's so much more... Joy.

Anyways, the idea sounds interesting. I can't wait to try it, though I am sceptical. Honestly I don't think this will replace the keyboard at all, it's just an alternative to whatever.

*cough* How am I supposed to play video games with that thing.. frown

EDIT: For once I totally agree with DVStudio, haha. The very first thing I thought was "Oh noes! Invasion of Ipods!"

The reason this is brilliant though is because of how plausible it really is. That interface and the sentence completion thing was pretty spot on- in other words...I wouldn't be suprised.

...just a few hundred clicks away...

Blooming brilliant - the great thing The Onion are doing with these is getting the body language of rolling news shows just right, like Brass Eye, or The Day Today did - it makes you realise just how trashy US news shows look too, with their breathless style of delivery. And the details are perfect - if you get a glance of the sentence predictor or the email the guy was typing, they're great gags in themselves!

Hehe, oddly enough, Apple just updated their 17 in. MacBook Pros, adding a new longer-lasting battery, and saying that it's a major breakthrough in notebook technology. smile

http://www.apple.com/macbookpro/17inch-battery/

I really like Apple, and these new things that they add are very good, it's just a little funny that they're always advertising them as being breakthroughs that will revolutionize the industry.

Though what if someone gets a MacBook with this non-removable, five-year-lasting battery and wants to use the computer for more that five years? By putting the irremovable battery inside of a one-piece aluminum shell, they're restricting portable laptop use to five years, after that you'll just have to plug it in every time you use it. unsure

I don't get it. Why does everything Apple makes get advertised with being considered "revolutionary"?

The 8 hour battery? A joke! Take a look at this, that Dell has had for months: a 19 hour battery. Now that is revolutionary! biggrin http://www.dell.com/content/products/category.aspx/latit?c=us&cs=555&l=en&s=biz

It's taking a joke and then making a it a metajoke, building on what's already there. Hence people pretending they think the Onion article is real when they know it isn't, that Aculag was wishfully referring to. And in the case of You Have To Burn The Rope, it's people writing elaborate walkthroughs for the game, building on the initial joke.

Of course, if you have to explain a joke, it all falls apart. Damn.

What are you talking about?! It's a revolutionary idea! Instead of physically looking for all the keys on a keyboard, they're right in front of you on the screen.

Did you also fail to see how shiny and thin the laptop was?

WHAT HOW IS THIS ANYWHERE NEAR COOL?

1. Typing will take AGES!

2. It is soooooo expensive only for a 8GB HDD.

3. And what does he mean when he says:"It is unbreakable unless dropped or hit."
How else would you break a laptop?

4. Mac has a downfall when it comes to compatibility.

Do you know what, guys? Ultimategamer has some valid points here, I wish I'd thought of them myself, in fact!

I suppose it could be slow typing a long document, but the sentence autocomplete would help. And is battery life really such an issue when you think about it?

I'm not usually a Mac man, but I have to say this sums up the apple ethos really well - there will be long queues waiting for these on launch day just to have the latest and coolest looking laptop on the block (but I think I'll wait for the 16gig version so I can edit HD on it!)

Thanks ultimategamer for the funny post. I think you do have some good points though.

I think a lot of people get caught up in how stuff looks (it is importnat, but only to a certain point) as I always say, beauty is only skin deep. If the computer is the nicest looking one and has weak specs and cost a lot of $$$, but you are using it for video editing, its gonna suck. Sometimes you need to swap beauty for practicality. Thats what happens a lot with some of the stuff companies sell, theres no middle ground. Sometimes you'll get a good looking computer thats slow or a spray painted shoe box thats fast (kinda joking smile)

ultimategamer129 wrote:

I'll give Microsoft $100 for 20 gigs. I might as well pay double for 8 gigs!

If zero newtons of force are applied to it, it will not receive physical damage; therefore, the computer is unbreakable.

srsly! There's a really touching scene at the end where, as an old man, he finds the signature-laden cast in a box of old belongings. As he remembers his youth, and all of the friends who signed his cast when he was a boy, he can't help but weep, for all of those friends have passed, and his life is now only a memory. But, while he decides to burn everything, he keeps the cast. Breaking his arm was the only thing that ever made his life feel like it was worth a damn.

Only on Lifetime

That's why they made a SECOND sequel (to appeal to a younger demo), in which Haley Joel Osment's character, futurefilmmaker's grandson (played by one of those kids from The Suite Life with Zack and Cody) breaks his leg and has to be hospitalized for two weeks. During which time, his reputation in school goes completely down the drain, and bullies have taken over! His girlfriend is dating the quarterback, and all the kids go to underage-drinking parties every night!

Will futurefilmmaker's grandson's shattered tibia heal in time for him to push back the bully onslaught and bring peace to the cafetorium? Tune in to find out! Only on Lifetime.

Let's run this into the ground.

I'm hoping for a scene in which the grandson roundhouse kicks the bully leader, with his broken leg, causing it to re-fracture and crippling him for life. His sacrifice means that little Johnny never has to have his head flushed down the toilet ever again, though.

I have seen your site.

Heh. I'm trying to figure out why on earth I was given a -1 for that post. Anybody got any ideas? All I was doing was referencing Desperado, after all.

I could just PM the person that did it, I suppose, and ask.
